Picked up a 2008 reg cab 5-lug with a disassembled 2.7 (bad head gasket) for $2k with 277k miles. Decided to part out most of it, keeping the body, frame, and interior for a base build. I'm going to actually keep track of costs on this one in an attempt to keep the price relatively low.

For the instagram people, I will be keeping track of the build on there as well as many other projects I have. Instagram is allen.fab

    plans, as of now, are:
5.3 LS, auto trans, manual t-case
    99-04 Super Duty axles
    Leaf springs all around
    Probably 35s, maybe 37s
As low a frame height as possible

    Actual build:

    22.25" Frame height on 37s

    Powertrain:
    - Gen 4 5.3 LS
    - TSP Stage 3 low lift truck cam
    - 243 heads
    - Summit LS swap SS headers
    - 2.5" SS Y-pipe
    - 3.5" Street Max Stainless 22x11 muffler
    - 4L60E transmission
    - NP241C transfer case
    - Tom Woods slip yoke eliminator
    - Tom Woods Rear 1350 Double Cardon driveshaft
    - True-Cool 40K transmission cooler

    Axle:
    - 99-04 Super Duty Dana 60 front, Sterling 10.5 rear
    - 4.56 Gears
    - Yukon Grizzly lockers
    - Yukon Rear diff cover

    Steering:
    - Toyota IFS box tapped for Hydro-assist
    - Factory GM LS pump
    - Summit Racing 20" heat sink cooler
    - Borgeson Steering shaft and joints
    - Weaver fab machined knuckle and arm for crossover
    - RuffStuff steering links, Chevy 1-ton TRE's
    - Sky flat pitman arm

    Suspension:
    Front:
    - Superlift 2.5" springs SLF-01-232-6
    - 5" length shackles
    - Ruffstuff U-bolt flip kit
    - Bilstein 5125 12" shocks

    Rear:
    - Chevy 63" 3-leaf
    - Ruffstuff swap kit w/5" shackles
    - 14" Bilstein 5125 outboard shocks
    - Ruffstuff U-bolt flip kit

    Wheel/Tire:
    - 37x12.50R17 Toyo
    - 17x8 Black Rock Steel wheels 4.5" BS

    Interior:
    - Autometer Ultra-lite 2 fuel, transmission, oil pressure, and water temp gauges
    - Scangauge III

    Lighting:
    - Factory

    Misc.:
    - Rock Sliders
    - Ultra high clearance rear bumper
    - 08 Tundra Brake Booster
    - 1-5/16" GM master cylinder

    - 1987 Blazer 25 gal. fuel tank
    - Walbro 255 fuel pump
    - Smittybilt 10K X20 winch w/synthetic rope

Not going extreme like my last build, just want something reliable and low maintenance (wishful thinking).

Good riddance… sold the motor and transmission for $600, and picked up some salvage yard 63s and a IFS box

Picked up some axles today… 60 front, sterling 10.5 rear. Decided to go with a set of superlift 2.5” lift springs for 73-88 Chevy K10’s, they have a lighter spring rate and will allow for a fairy low height.

Waiting on parts to do the suspension so decided to knock out a rear bumper. I wanted to keep it simple but useful. It’s built out of 4x2 and 2x2 3/16” rectangle and square tube that I had left over from previous jobs. Gained 9” of clearance after cutting up the bed. It’s getting d-ring mounts welded on once I get them, but other than that just needs ends capped, chain hooks, and paint.

Rear bumper done and on. I think I ended up with about $35 into it. Next up is starting the axle/suspension swap

    *not my wheels and tires*

rolled a 38.5 bogger up to the truck for shits and giggles… and this is at 20” frame height. Still can’t decide between 35s and 37s but I’m leaning 37s…
