Transmission shop is going to get a visit tomorrow. One month to do what they said was a "one week job" and over two weeks since they said they would have my converter "next day".

Meanwhile, all brake lines are done, 4.56 gears and Grizzley locker installed in rear, and 3 of 4 calipers installed. Had to redo the rear shock setup because the first try was too close to the tires for my liking.

Yup, with a GM 1-5/16” booster. Got the adapter from Trail Toys. I’d have to look again to see what trucks that master came in. 80s/90s 3500 truck I think

    Boy that sounds familiar!!
Found out the guy who installed my LS also installed the oil pickup tube and oil pan. So being the LS is famous for this O-ring failure he decided “Bigger Is Better”. The oil pan I purchased had two bolts that held the pickup tube in place. Anyway he tried to force an FAT OVERSIZED O-ring in place. This caused the O-ring to deform and pinch. This caused the system to suck air and oil. The oil pressure gauge would either bounce ALL OVER PLACE or would be low. I couldn’t figure out what the issue was. One day after playing with an Audi, I started to pull into a Toyota dealership to pickup parts. I could hear the valves starting to rattle, talk about getting your attention! I then looked at the oil pressure gauge it was reading 9 PSI. I instantly turned off the truck. Then set there for what seemed like an eternity. I figured WTF I needed to get back home so I started the engine and had 30 PSI. Parked and got my parts. Started the truck again and proceeded home. Meanwhile texting the engine builder he told me not to worry he would fix the engine because it was his fault. I told him this may not be your fault. Anyway to make a longer story shorter my truck being sitting at a shop in N. Glendale AZ for over a month now to get the oil pump replaced. Something about trying to force an oversized O-ring in place deform something at the bottom of the oil pump, what I have no F***ing clue….

I’m pretty happy that van was nowhere near my engine.

Van didn’t screwup! And like I said the engine builder (Van) took the responsibility and said he would fix the issue. The issue is from the guy in TX. The shop is just next to Van and apparently their hoist went out. It is what it is what can I do?

Trans got new 3/4 clutches and seals, and it's getting a new pan tomorrow with a temp sensor bung that I already welded in. Trans lines made, shifter hooked up, exhaust and driveshaft are in. The brake tee on the rear axle leaked when I was bleeding the brakes, so I replaced it with an extra one I had and it leaked just as bad, so I ordered a few more to try and get that fixed. Also had to order a different trans dipstick. This thing will be moveable next weekend

    IMG_2305.jpg

Rear pinion angle set and perches welded in along with lower shock mounts
    IMG_2308.jpg

Front calipers and brake lines in. Front end gears/shafts will be done later...

What trans are you using? My 4L60E and my new 4L80E both have internal line fluid temp sensors

4l60. I never even looked into it to see if it had it. But I like mechanical gauges anyway

also, let it be known the 4l60 sucks. Mine blew up in 2 weeks in my Tacoma. I’m now on a 4l80 like everyone told me to do.

You aren’t alone in telling me this, that’s for sure lol

The lower first gear on the 60e was a big factor as most of my offroading will be slow speed stuff and being that I am only running a 2.72 low in the trans case, the 3.06:1 first gear will just work better for me. This will see some road miles but most of the time, it will be trailered to and from the destinations and it will never be pulling a trailer. It's got a fat cooler on it in the grill so it should live for a while at least :D
