Update from last post titled "Wheel Bearing Woes":

Got the spindle back from the shop today.

They said it went on no problem.

Re-installed the spindle in the truck, the bearing felt a little tight not too bad. This is after re-installing the axle nut etc...

I took it for a drive, everything seemed ok, except that the brake shield was bent and I had to re-bend it away from the hub or whatever it was rubbing on.

Seemed fine, brought the truck home, felt the hubs. Left one (good one), was warm but basically cool to the touch.

The one that was just pressed in was HOT. Like burn your fingers hot.

    Any ideas?

No play in it or anything just really hot.

Really need to get this thing sorted out.

    Thanks!

    4x4

Brake caliper had no issues before this so I don’t think that’s what it is but I could be totally wrong…

Would the bearing be too tight based on not being supported while being pressed?

I’m going to call the shop in the morning and ask how they supported the inner race while pressing the hub on.

That would be a good start...and jack up that wheel and see if the brake is dragging.

I'm sure you won't hear the truth If you ask that. Did you put proper torque on axle nut?

Got a little less than a full rotation when spinning the tire.

I’ll go look again to see…

I wouldn’t drive with it on there and bring it back to them.

I just replaced my daughters press in wheel bearings without removing knuckles on a Kia Rio. From what I've watched on YouTube I see them removing knuckles and have a special tool to use on press not sure if that's the only way or you can use press on tool while on truck but definitely need support inner race while pressing on hub.

    Update!

removed and replaced the inner oil seal in the spindle. Removed and lubricated the caliper.
