Yes, same dealer I bought at. Only 2 dealers around, the other one is worse.

In and out in about an hour and 15. They said they’ve seen maybe one truck so far where they had to replace nuts, other than that, easy retorques.

just got the recall work done today, same time as my free 1yr service (oil change). peaked under my truck beforehand so I could have an idea of what to expect and looked clean as a whistle.

dealership came back with the same thing, no weld slag observed upon inspection, except they didn’t retorque anything. service advisor didn’t mention it and it’s not on the work order, I had other shit to do so didn’t think about that part until later. anyone think I need to follow up and have them torque the nuts?

to be honest I don’t trust the dealership, but going there for at least the 2 years free service. plus don’t really have a choice if I want the recall work performance signed off. but rather not have them touch anything, and not sure I see why it should be retorqued if it was apparently unaffected. curious what others think

No date yet, but could be because my taco is a 10/23 build date with only 5100km (3170 miles) on it.

Now I don’t know anymore they torqued yours to 44 ft. lbs. and the service bulletin says 41 ft. lbs. I don’t think they know themselves. Another member uploaded his service ticket and it noted 41 ft. lbs. ‍

Yeah, I saw that too. I’m sure the 3lbs extra will be okay.

My location get 2 Toyota dealers, both are owned by same family. Had BS long time ago. Apparently, something about customer put wrong oil in engine, blame dealer. Don’t know what the outcome was.

Recall inspection done. No signs of any issue so good to go. Took less than 2 hours

    ???

It's not that it is, or isn't, ok... what is the exact mindset of upping from the original torque value? Is this to compensate for the threads now being "used / stretched" to accomplish the same holding force as in a new factory install setting? Genually curious.

And if it's drifting up to 44 now in at least once dealer instance, at what point does it become a concern? That's getting to be a fairly high percent up from the original value. Or conversely, why isn't it that from the factory then?

A dealer not being able to answer these types of questions is why I hesitate to let them just do stuff... YMMV

I checked all of mine for welding spatter then re-torqued to 33ft. lbs. and as far as I’m concerned recall is complete until I sell it. My thought is when you start increasing the torque from what the engineers originally set it at you can damage the integrity of the threads. If it was just a few pounds of torque maybe, but 44 ft. lbs. is around 34% increase.

That was kind of where I was thinking. There's other things that get off / on multiple times over the life of the vehicles without changing the torque when closing up (oil drain, diffs, etc.) Just doesn't make sense... :notsure:

Got the letter, AND my local dealer called me to schedule an appointment out of the blue. Good enough folks there and glad they call people, but i'm not wasting 1-2 hours of my life because Toyota can't set up their welding robot better than a freshman in welding class. I looked and i do have splatter, heck i even see splatter under one of the nuts i would mention when i do finally take it in. But i'll wait till my next service in 4000 miles and make them give me a loaner for the day. Everything is still where it should be.

Now to figure out how to get the annoying AF messages to stop popping up every time i put the truck in park.

I wish we could see photos or actual nuts that are affected by the splatter....visually I would love to see what it looks like.

At the dealership right now getting a service and they're inspecting the axle for the recall also.

Post #115 has the parts highlighted from the FSM.
Posts 127, 130, and 133 all have photos of the nuts and weld splatter (if present).

    Cheers

I know which parts are affected as I verified the torque on my vehicle.

I want to see actual affected nuts (eg. that a dealer actually replaced) not just what splatter looks like - that's obvious.

I stopped the annoying nag screen on the radio by reading the message then tapping the back button that appears in the upper right hand corner. I haven't seen it since.
