Sold my 2015 off road, it was such a great truck but needs are outpacing wants at the moment. The payload just doesnt match with the travel trailer i bought last year. did a couple camping trips last year, it did it but its not all that fun. I dont know what insurance would do if there was an incident being over payload.
Anyway, i dont want to get into that too much, its done, i came here to talk about my truck

The 15 taco was great. in the almost 9.5 years and 145,000 miles i owned it, i replaced fluids as needed, and the only parts i had to replace were the front brakes once, accessory belt, and battery. Really, thats just unheard of. you could prob add another front brake in there, as those were just about gone again. Never touched the rear drums, and used the ebrake daily.
Keep up on maintenance and those second gens will just go.

I also plowed my driveway with it. What a great plow truck. Thats all i did was my driveway, and it isnt all that easy, fairly steep. Always kept it in 4 lo and just took it easy. I would go up and down my steep icy drive with confidence. Did it for 4 years. Used to snowblow it for HOURS, but my back got screwed up again. For those that are weary of plowing, if its just your drive, i wouldnt hesitate. Just be smart, no ramming. I used a western defender. Great plow in itself

The transmission always had a little rumble around 40 mph, but i basically just started driving in 4th unless i was on the highway. It really always did it and never changed.

Anyway, i will miss it. Have a brand new full size with all the bells and whistles, but my wife is like" are you going to be ok" gave it a hug before trade in haha

Ill still be around the forum. You guys are great, lots of knowledge here not just about tacos, but other trucks, home improvement, camping whatever.

Im sure i will be back in a taco some day, if we ever get back down to a more manageable camper, or if the 4th gen hybrid gets some payload balls. I figured i would keep an eye on it and also let the 4th gens breath out for 5 years or so.

It will be ok. All things fade in time,.
Give the new truck a chance, you'll enjoy it too. I'm sure.

But be sure to stick around. No need to leave because you don't have a Tacoma.

    pics or it didn't happen

how much can the payload increase by boxing the frame and swapping a diesel
there might be more to it though. Supposedly once you really get up in payload axles have to be floating for a stronger bearing setup to handle the weight

It sounds like you wish you bought a smaller travel trailer?

Like the one we have. The crappy thing is we bought the current one because we wanted a hard side to start camping with our dog, hoping to keep the noises down for his reactiveness. We lost him a month before our first trip. We also wanted to go on longer trips and after two trips, wasn’t going to fight for hours. Life happens. May or may not get a smaller camper, may or may not like the full size better. Time will tell. Certainly warming up to it

edit, also add again didn’t want to get into all the reasons, really just wanted to say what a great truck the 2nd gen was, especially being the last year. Timing didn’t work out for a LOT of reasons
