Damn, trimmed the front and still getting loud rub coming out of the driveway. Looks like my fender liner push wasn't enough.

So now the question is go full sleeper style and back to a set of OEM Off Road Premium wheels, tuck the wheels in close, and not worry about it, or start chopping more and more.

    The council has spoken.

    Also chopping is cheaper.

I'm just debating where to cut. The fender liner is what bugs me the most honestly. Both chopping it clean off and folding it up look kinda meh IMO.

True indeed. Though it's not purely aesthetic, both seem like they'd be ripe to collect mud and water spray. Folding would give you all kinds of spots to make patties, I think.

Sounds like a great outlet for my obsessive nature, engineering a super clean (road debris wise) solution. ;)

Had some work done last fall. Added a 30A 220V outlet in the garage. Panel is on the opposite end of the house. 10’ ceilings. Also hung a ceiling fan and outdoor 110V box on the patio. Tied into existing circuit. Added switch for the fan inside. Materials and labor 1100. I already had the fan.

Cruised around for a few hours. Went some places we usually don’t go to try and avoid the main area and tried to get myself lost. But it didn’t work.

Turned out pretty good! Still need to throw some edge trim on it and at mod day I'm gonna have someone zip that driver's side fender liner support extension off since I don't have an angle grinder.

I decided to go as mild as possible and took a different take on it, I followed the lower body line people tend to follow, and then went level back to the wheel well to keep a liner clip at the lowest point. Still need to get a washer tank skid tho, or maybe design one!

It's not in focus but this is the part I was not going to stand around slowly gnawing thru with a dremel.

I'm noticing there's 2 different types of BMC now, my TC plates are, for lack of a better term, a "flat" chop, and I see others doing "curved" chops.

    vs this type:

Is there any good reason to do one vs the other??

Cosmetics? The only important part it the side facing the tire but there's a lot more empty space in the mount. Personally, I don't like how much of the mount is removed in that second one even if I thought it looks better. I'd want to add way more metal to keep the rigidity.

Makes sense, looking at my truck and where the body mount has just barely kissed the tire, the "loop" is removing material from where it doesn't really matter for clearance.

Whenever I’ve done a 4r chop, I always did the second, rounder style chop. There isn’t much to the 4r body mount so I would always remove the lower bushing, chop off the meat of the mount, form my own new plate out of 1/8” steel and then put the body mount back together. Removing more material was just as easy as removing less material, and saves the customer from having to come back.

edit: that first pic looks more like a tacoma than a 4R.
