I ordered PT90435070 wheels(TRD 16 inch silver for FJ's) today through my dealer for 143.75 each, which was the lowest I've seen new. My truck was already at the dealer within the first 1000 miles for a new valve body, since my other one failed. The wheels came in and my service advisor called me and told me they don't fit my truck. Am I missing something here? Did they in fact actually try to put them on and they didn't clear the caliper as he said? I have a 2012 Tacoma TRD sport LB DC 4x4. Any help would be appreciated.

I don't know from experience, but have read of calipers on the TRD sports rubbing w/16s on. I think Mr.Grimm mentioned it some where on a post he had, but I could be wrong.

Thanks, I'll search for that post. I had in fact emailed TRDparts4u to ask if they fit my truck before searching for a low price and they said they fit. I've also heard the sport calipers are the same size as the offroads or sr5's?

I have read differently on the caliper size (Sports being bigger). Ah, who knows, unless you measure yourself. On the other hand, there are a lot of smart dudes on here. I am sure you'll get the answer from a TW member

All the 6-lug trucks have the same brakes.

You don't have the red TRD calipers made by Stoptech, right?

What tires are you trying to put on? Are they the same size as stock (265/70R16)?

i think they just dont want to try it because they are for the FJ. you should be able to clear 285's without spacers with those wheels. the FJ's have the same brakes and calipers IIRC

Thanks everyone, I'm going to call them back first thing in the morning and ask if they physically tried to install them and it didn't work. We will see what they say, I'll report back in case anyone else has the same question.

Clearance with 16" wheels should be very tight, but there is clearance. If the dealer puts stick-on balancing weights on the inside of the wheel instead of the rim lip (to avoid scratching the rim), it could scrape against the caliper.

Now that you mention it Ken, my SA did say it wouldn't clear with the balancing weights on the inside. Maybe I am SOL.

So use clip on weights on the rim lip... like how they install weights at the factory.

I traded my stock Dunlops for Michelins at America's Tire and they installed my TRD's at the same time. Everything went off without a hitch. My TRD's are 16 x 7.5 which is .5" wider than the factory steelies. My tire size is P245/75 16's, which is also stock.

Those guys are dumbasses. Tell them to turn them around the right way and they'll fit fine.

Careful with these tires. I have them in 265/65/17 on my truck and they don't balance very well. Having a lot of shaking/vibration issues with them. Out of the 6 the dealership has tried on my truck, 3 have failed their road balancing tests.

I read a lot of reviews on tirerack after my issues came up. Didn't read any of those issues. They got mostly good reviews for some reason. Maybe they just had a bad run recently???
