The honda is back on 4 wheels. For now. Driver side axle, new uca, new strut all went in this morning pulled the car to the street to turn it around in the driveway. Tomorrow I'll do the pass side uca and strut. Had to stop doing work on it brother called me and decided to do the windshield job today instead of tomorrow. No pictures of windshield job it's the same trucks we do all the time so no point. Anywho hope everyone has a good rest of you night.

    2006 Toyota Tacoma
    Hello,
I have been following this blog on and off for a couple of years now. I have a question and looking for advice and the insight of those more knowledgeable than I on Tacoma repairs. I have a 2006 Tacoma which I have had since new. Approximately 8 years ago Toyota installed a new frame and whatever else they did while they were replacing the frame. Recently, I have had the sub-assembly receiver hitch removed because it is rusted badly. I have not got around to replacing it until now. I called the dealer today to ask about the entire sub-assembly and about fell over when he told me the part replacement cost. The part from Toyota is over $1700. actually closer to $1800. Even the parts man was shocked. To get to my point, does anyone know of a reliable after market place that sells these. I apologize for the length of this submission.

    Welcome Joe.
I do know the factory hitch is part of the rear frame assembly, something elaborate but there has to be a post on the main 2nd gen forum that members incur the same issues as you. Maybe weld up some angle iron and a Reese hitch ? Another option is a OEM used hitch assembly from a junkyard , but 1 tacos are hard to find , 2 when u find a Taco the hitch assembly is probably shot/rusted.
Edit : u can try car-part.com to search junkyards/auto recyclers for an OEM hitch

I am located on the Eastern side of Pennsylvania, in Chester County. I will research the advice given, it seems there are better options than what I found at Toyota. Thanks for the help.

Lol. Well I have a rider and push mow a small section, but kind of enjoy it. Put my ear buds in and relax. I'll probably help my neighbor cut as well, she lost her husband last yr . How's the new toy ? U dig up any artifacts? :D
