And by the time the smoke got to you it would be rancid, might as well lick the windshield of carton a day smoker.

There was a recall for fuel pumps on some 2017-2020 trucks. Maybe you're truck is in the eligible group.

Seems those rigs end up costing more than most houses because they have as much stuff as most houses. If you ask me, it seems like a lot of money to put onto something that can roll over. Or in the case of sprinter vans, rust away in 5 years lol.

I absolutely love the idea of a unimog camper though. But even though I’ve been drooling over those forever, I don’t think I’d ever be willing to drop that much coin on something like that, even if I could actually afford it.

Part of what makes off-roading fun is the adrenalin of taking risks. Most risk is probably just financial in modern 4x4 vehicles. But it wouldn’t be quite the same fun if the financial risk is severe enough to lose everything.

Mine was covered when it failed about a month before the recall was announced.

Does the new pump have some kind of warranty? Just curious how that works after a recall replacement.

Well, last 12 hour shift for at least this summer and hopefully for a long ass time is officially over. I'm going to celebrate the way normal people celebrate. By sleeping in my truck during what looks to be a rainstorm approaching. That's how normal people celebrate right?

I could use one 'bout now....

'cause the mods will be kicking into 2nd gear. :spending: Never thought I'd go down this rabbit hole. Yet here I am, in preliminary PM (DM?) with a member on another forum about road tripping from Prudhoe Bay, Alaska to Punta Arenas, Chile. Best guess is 32,000 miles round trip. I am going to install a dual battery set-up to run a fridge, but I am clueless how to determine what parts I really need. Seems the Redarc Fridge Power Kit is the way to go, but I am unsure if I need an isolater, too. I need something will last at least 3 months without shutting off the fridge, and the truck still starts in the morning. We won't have access to ice at times and we gotta keep the beer cold. Anybody that has any advice speak up. I have no clue. The more vids I watch the more confused I get. There are many ways to setup a system like this and I don't know what I'm doing.
2nd mod will be a rear locker, and at about that time I'll need new tires, too. And I'll need to get 6.

I doubt there is any coverage, replacement was about 4 1/2 years ago.

I’m lucky with mine. I got a new tensioner last fall when the A/C went out. It’s already failed. Luckily it’s covered, otherwise it would have been about $800!

I'd get a new fuel pump, never know what's in a wrecked one. Also they can be changed by dropping the tank in your driveway. Not too terribly difficult. YouTube is your friend.

I just hiked 6.3 miles in a torrential downpour. So ... Yes?

Bring a jump pack, and on long travel days, charge it with your inverter.

Get a tune and have your alternator rate bumped up

    Get a deeper cycle battery.

@Shellshock about to drop links for solar charge kit to keep your batteries topped off

    Also

That trip is a bucket list item for me. Hope you get to pull it off

You can do the belt tensioner in your driveway with a parts store tensioner. Obviously Denso is better but .... $800.... whew

Haha..... I had a hoodie. And a plastic bag for my phone and iPod :rain:

Had fun hydroplaning my running shoes. Which also are great at deluging water so despite puddles being rather deep, my feet really weren't squishy

Depends how fancy you want to get

    https://www.cascadia4x4.com/

get one of these and slap it on your hood. You can run a fridge off just that and an agm starter battery pretty much forever. Also keep in mind your truck will be running a lot of the time so that’ll be charging the battery too

if you really want to go over the top you can add a second battery, DCDC charger, isolator etc.

Personally I’d keep it as simple as possible because that’ll make it far easier to fix on the road

you can also do something like a goalzero 500x or dometic plb to run the fridge. It’ll charge while you are driving and give you about 2 days of run time. They also accept solar or ac input if you are gonna be parked for an extended period of time

no matter what you do if get a decent jump back just due to the remoteness of the trip

and a satellite messenger like the garmin inreach
