Does anyone have a recommendation for a reputable company to buy a reman engine? I've been looking at carpart but it's just hard for me to pay the prices they are asking with the mileage on the vehicles

What engine are you looking for?

Why do you need a new one?

I'm just going to go back with the 2.7. My #1 cylinder has a broken ring and it's scratched up the cylinder wall

Telling us what year model you have is always useful for things like this.

And you've dug in far enough to know the damage is beyond a good honing?

Sorry I didn't mention the year, it's a 2011. I bought the truck less than a month ago, I've checked around and most shops around want $2500-$3000 to fix it and that's with me pulling the engine and re installing

quality reman, probably only a couple, one, or none

    crap reman, probably many

    or put in a used
    or rebuild it
    maybe DIY

depends what's wrong with it, if anything
many vehicles in junkyards the engine worked. But ended up in a junkyard because perhaps driver wrapped it around a pole.

Had a car. Got hit. Went to the yard. They wanted it. Didn't end up in a yard. Bought it back. Drove it home. No changes to the drivetrain. Sold it as a parts car. Guy drove it far back home.
Depends if you tested or not.
Also bought a used manual gearbox. Junkyard said it's perfect. No way to test it.
It was not. It had a known issue for that vehicle of chipped input shaft causing whirring noise in 1st gear, which you find out as fun present when it's in the car.

If your ring broke and scratched the wall
I'd find out if that can be repaired. Or if it has replaceable wear parts. Such as a pressed in sleeve that can be replaced.

Or even if not, take for example the Audi B6 S4 with alusil cylinder walls that end up trash. A company came out with a kit to resolve that with liners to press in that aren't shit.

That sounds about right. I had a 2tr rebuilt for around the low $2000s I cannot remember exactly. If I had to do it again I would probably look for a used engine unless you had a really trustworthy engine shop. As far as finding one that's in good condition for a fair price, it's going to be a hunt but I am sure they are out there.

I'm still trying to figure out why the
I've been looking for a few days before I made this post and finally found a used one with decent mileage and warranty.

2TR comes in cheap gardener trucks shouldn’t be hard to find one cheap used that hopefully ran. Maybe slap better rings inside so it doesn’t happen again. Not sure why it did, if they’re a bad design. Shouldn’t be hard to do.

Junkyard quoted me $1200 for used diffs sitting there that doesn’t break and nobody wants.
    Bought one for $50.
Bought an Audi diff for $100. Nicer vehicle.

maybe there’s gold hidden inside. Oh well. Junkyard guy can sit in dead truck close his eyes using imagination power and make vroom vroom noises with mouth.
