I've sadly only driven the truck about 500 miles since I got back from Utah in mid-September. I did pick up the truck today after dropping it off a Milo's last month for some front end work: Solid motor and transmission mounts, double-shearing the UCA mounts and steering tabs, new uniball UCAs, and mid-travel Kings. Trying to get the rear shock relocate scheduled next, along with finding a break in the weather to do some troubleshooting and repairs at home.

Otherwise, as far as fuckery and whatnot so far this year, just a lot of local hiking and some whalewatching in Monterey last weekend.

2023 fuckery brought about some 2024 fuckery. Need to do some temporary clearance with spacers and then try and heat/hammer the skid back into shape later. The skid supposedly has 1/2-inch clearance to the bottom of the diff as constructed (although I never actually measured it in practice), but the amount of visible deformation on the skid seems to be closer to 1/4-inch, so I'm still trying to wrap my head around that.

Is there one of those diff drop kits on your truck? When I got my truck it had a leveling kit and there was large steel spacers to help correct the CV angle.

Not unless the previous owner installed one and I never noticed it. They had the truck on stock suspension without a lift, though, so I can't imagine why they would have.

The only other thing I'd check is to use a crowbar and see if the diff is loose, otherwise I'd assume the skid was out of spec or bent.

Diff was tight, and the skid's definitely bent. X marks the spot with the greatest deformation.

Going to the river to fish for Shad, heard it’s popping and moving their way up stream.

I've always wanted to try shad. I've used them for Dungeness crab bait and they work 10x better than chicken.

I should try that for crab also. I didn’t do well this year with crab.

Lake Camanche planted 2,500 lbs of trout yesterday. Fishing should be good this weekend until next weekend.
