Is it worth it to purchase a new 2023 or 2024 Tacoma ?

I really want a new Tacoma. Mine is a customized 2003 but I want something a little more comfortable for long drives. Is it worth it to pay the premium that a Tacoma would cost over say a Nissan frontier?

I’ve owned Nissan products in the past, wouldn’t make that mistake again.

Really ? I had one when my Tacoma was I the body shop and liked it but of course my time with it was limited.

It's been worth it for me. But then again, I've only had my truck since Monday evening.

I had a g35 Infiniti and the trans went bad at 85k. The trucks may be a different story but I just stick with Toyotas now and theyve been trouble free

My buddy bought a new 2018 Frontier King Cab Pro 4x within months of the time I bought my Offroad access cab and he's had zero problems with his as compared my my Tacoma.

Albeit while I didn't anything major go wrong with my Tacoma, I did have small issues and recalls I needed to deal with that I fixed myself or needed to take to the dealer.

My buddies Frontier, nothing. No creaks, no mechanical issues whatsoever. The only thing he had to deal with is the dealer did a bad install on a tonneau cover that rubbed paint off which the dealer rectified.

Read your first sentence again and don't worry about what the rest of the forum thinks. Life is short.

Tacoma is worth the premium. What current owners are struggling with is how much of a premium.

Some dudes are blowing $55k on OR’s like it’s nothing. A lot of others are scratching their heads at $45k for stripped out SR5’s. Up to you what works for your particular budget and driving needs. Life is definitely short, but you still have to make payments while you’re above ground…Good luck

The G35 hasn't been made for 17 years, not sure how this is exactly relevant. A Toyota model from 2007 has no relation to a Toyota model today.

Do you want it? Can you afford it? Did you like it better after driving a new Frontier? Do you really care what strangers on the internet think?

I'd stay with the 2023 if i was gonna buy a truck, have heard its not a good idea to buy the first of a new gen. Although, if you want something more comfortable, have you looked at a camry/corrola/rav4? Better mileage etc. Then you have a great truck to rip around, and something more economical to DD

I assume your '03 is paid for.

How many 'long drives' do you take a year? How long is long? Do these trips have to be in a truck?

Depending on your answers there are several potential options that would be way less expensive than a new anything.

the 3rd gens have gone up in price, its probably the worst time to buy one. But if you plan on keeping it forever, it will probably beat any of the alternatives in terms of longevity, cost effectiveness, etc.

Yep paid for long ago. I’m likely to take a job that would require me to be in the road an hour a day. I also take lots of hunting trips during the season. This truck is fine for that as I can camp in the back but it’s not super comfortable in terms of driving long hours every day.

Get a used Avalon! Mine was the most comfortable car I ever drove and I went from South Houston to North Dallas twice a week. MPG’s exceeded 30, and it hauled ass. JBL sound system cranked.

    Comfortable car…..plush

Mine was an 06. Put 200k on it.

I go through vehicles far too often, but I’m also typically cheap when it comes time to purchase.

The current prices on the 24 Tacomas are a bit much and I’ve owned 10 Tacomas, currently in a VW lol. I can get a 2024 Frontier pro-4X with the technology package for $35.4K, that’s a no brainer for me.

Nissan has a terrible reputation for transmissions in their cars. The Frontiers have a different transmission and it's solid.
The new Frontiers are very nice for the price and wouldn't be a bad option at all.

Smaller wheels would be cheaper if you just want a better ride, but it still wouldn’t ride like a newer Tacoma.
