Hello, I am having some issues with my 2019 Tacoma. It's a 2.7L(i know, unicorn engine for this generation) with about 47k miles on it.

A few months ago I had a rodent chew up a computer harness and it ran terrible. Basically undriveable, but I drove it a couple of miles anyway hoping it would smooth out. Instead, the check engine light began blinking, which I googled and it said it needs immediate service. I had it serviced at a dealership where they had to replace the harness entirely. It apparently wasn't salvageable. It was fine for a couple of days except my cruise control didn't work.

That's when the trouble started. First my check engine light came on which I found to be throwing trouble codes for an evap system leak. I couldn't afford to service it again and I was told you could drive it in this condition. So I have been driving it this way but recently it has developed a slight shake at idle. It's not real pronounced, not as dramatic as it was when the harness was chewed up, but noticeable.

Now I know a lot of things can cause these issues, but I just wondered if someone had a similar experience and what they did to resolve it.

Just an update. I had changed out my gas cap for an aftermarket locking variety before my harness was chewed up. Three days ago I cleared the evap system codes and switched back to my original gas cap. So far, the codes have not returned and my cruise control started working again. Guessing the adaptive cruise control is tied to the evap system somehow.

However, there is still an engine shake at idle and it seems a little under powered. I figured I would check some boxes and change the plugs/clean the throttlebody. Other than that I'm at a loss. No engine codes.

My new 2023 v6 with 4500 miles has had a shaky idle since day 1. Tach never moves, just a vibration and shakiness too it when in gear. I’m just gonna run the truck and hopefully smooths out as it wears in
