Not entirely sure... But I've got Germanic Alpine Heritage in me so I came into this world with massive quads and calves. Looked like I was born skipping arm and chest day. So I don't really do squats. Never have. I skip leg day all the time and get my legs-ercise through hiking and mountain climbing (not the sheer rock walls with ropes and stuff - because I also came with a brain) out here in the desert. Jeans that fit right have always been hard for me to find because of this and any hope I ever had of dunking the ball stays a dream because of the low center of gravity in my legs.

They have me doing "Mini-Squats" for PT but after that's done I'll probably say AMF to squats.

I'm highly competitive - even and especially against myself.

Last night at PT they caught me sneaking in extra reps and doing the timed exercises for longer that prescribed. I'm also one of the few patients that actually DOES their PT at home too. But alas they have told me to cool it, step back, let the knee recover before I push it too hard and too far.

My new years resolution has always been to end the year healthier than when I started it. I figure that's the best way to keep up with the aging process. But this knee has had me backsliding for the last three years. Adding weight, pre-diabetic, heart meds now (maybe vax related according to a CDC study now). But this is the year of the knee. Getting mobile again and going to start reversing three to four years of crap. I'm already down 21lbs since surgery and up about 3% muscle mass. My visceral fat score is dropping too 22 to 19.

Next goal is Flexion. I'm getting about 75 degrees of bend in that leg. Been getting better by about 5 degrees a day. Was at 55 degrees last week sometime. Getting to 90+ will help with walking, sitting, and using the exercise equipment so I can start working upper body again.

Thanks for the encouragement guys. I know I've been knocked back a peg or two but I'm fighting like the third monkey on the way to the ark to make this happen.

I'm down to 161.5 dry weight. Was 188.6 on 1/1/24. The last 4 pounds have taken significantly longer than the first 10 did lol.

If I hit 160 and keep the same weight on my lifts I'll be so stoked. Upper body I've lost maybe 5% on my lifts and abt 10-15% on lower (I'm blaming the lower on my injection wearing off so knee pain is back to miserable).

For some reason on flat dumbell press I want to be able to do half my body weight in each hand, for a set of 10. Just a mental benchmark goal I set. Ibuprofen worked better than normal last leg day I hit and managed to still hit 285 for 5 on squat. amazing feeling after a few weeks of 225 being my tap out.

Any new favorites for chocolate protein powders? I mainly mix with water so most of em do alright

Try some Turmeric with Black Pepper for your knee it helps with inflammation after taking it for awhile. Just watched a video on Castor Oil on YouTube and that was one of its many benefits! Castor Oil may turn out to be way better than anything else you can use. Ibuprofen is really bad for you I quit taking it because it was killing my kidneys according to doctor.

I use vanilla. I think I've talked to you about my old ways but just to throw it out for anyone:

1-2 bananas, scoop of powder, water (or ice if you're drinking it straight away, or you can also freeze the bananas too), dash of cinnamon. Vanilla protein powder - and it tastes like banana bread.

Why I never stumbled across this thread is beyond me, glad I did now.

Noice! My daily morning shake is basically just chocolate protein and banana, I'll keep this in mind for Vanilla variant.

Give it a whack with the chocolate. I haven't tried it but it's basically adding a dash of cinnamon to what you are already doing.

I forgot to mention - this is being done in a blender

You can get these types of lids for a bullet style, that way you blend it, flip it over, then drink out of the same thing.

Saving that for the next bulk for sure. I’m sitting at 2200 to 2500 cals based on activity level that day currently. Avoiding liquid calories for now.

My go to for easy protein is currently sliced ham or Turkey. The Walmart brand claims 1 slice of ham/Turkey is 30/25 cals with 5/6 g of protein each.

I’ve noticed most protein powders mixed with water aren’t great unless they’re aggressively flavored.

Are you tracking or just mentally tracking? I use Cronometer, I really like it. When MFP bailed out on the barcode thing, I looked elsewhere, and this has been good to me. Pulls in Strava activities, along with a BMR burn, etc.

Supposedly it does sleep too, haven't started to use it for that yet though.

I type what I eat into the calculator app on my phone lol. Then don’t clear it till I go to bed that night. It holds a running total through the day if I don’t clear it.

I’m not excessively scientific other than, stay under my calorie goal, and 1 G protein per lb of body weight. Which ends up as very lean eating habits and my carbs being reserved for my pre workout/bike ride meal

I don't really go to the gym anymore, used to lift a lot but now I just do calisthenics and isometrics at home. Or go running since there's a park near me with a pull up bar and rope climb.
