Hey All, I'm looking for people that are local with a 1st gen stock long bed and/or a stock short bed.

Please reach out if you live on the central coast (Santa Barbara or San Luis Obispo) and would be open to lending me your vehicle a couple times for fit checks and photos!

A free 1st gen platform will be provided to anyone that I end up working with in person.

Bed Requirements: Bare Metal or Spray in Liner only. Not going to be designed for any specific bed liners

Any thoughts on making these with 4 pieces instead of 3 for Tacoma long bed? Would that compromise strength? Any other issues? 4 sections would work better for me for storage in the bed when not using as a platform. TIA.

Going for 4 instead of 3 was considered but it would increase cost due to additional cutting needed and decrease strength assuming the same material thickness.
If we went for thicker material to compensate for the weaker geometry, that would further increase cost and weight.
3 boards strikes the best balance between strength, weight, cost, ease of installation and storage space when stacked at the front.

Benefit of 4 stacked at the front vs 3 at the front means open bed space goes from from 2/3 to 3/4, not enough to justify about a 40% cost increase and 30% weight increase.

As to the question on 4 pieces vs. 3.
Got it, thanks for the detailed response. Just what I was looking for. Thanks again.

I'm not local, but as soon as you've got the measurements figured out, please let me know. I'm dying for this product and want to be one of the first to test it out in my ext cab 1st gen.

I'll keep you posted, still looking for a 1st gen development candidate.
Do you have any plastic bed liner or just the stock metal profile?

I've got a spray in liner. If you need help with any dimensions, measurements, detailed photos, honest feedback, I'd be super happy to help out however I can. Literally anything you need at all besides the truck itself, I'll do whatever I can.

I just want to make this thing happen. Since I've discovered you, I've been foaming at the mouth for one. I've had like 5-10 different systems; totes and a pad, DIY bed drawers, like 4 RTT's. Haven't found one that works for me. But this solves all the concerns I've found myself wanting fixed.

Hey All, I'm Looking for input on Ideal Platform Height for the 1st gen.

Are there specific products or binds that you want to be able to store underneath the platform? (please include a link and dimensions)
Keep in mind that platform height comes at the expense of headroom.

If you'd like to place a preorder for the 6' 1st gen with the OE Toyota plastic bedliner.
Please reach out to me at Ben@bambeds.com and send me photos of your truckbed so I can ensure compatibility!

3rd Gen Tundra Platform just Released! This platform has a very precise fit, thanks to a super straight and square bed profile from Toyota.

Do you have the rough dimensions of the long bed extension board? Curious if anyone has tried to throw that or even a universal board in their double cab back seat with the bottoms of the seats taken out as a temporary rear seat delete. I’d like a flat surface for my dogs on trips without committing to a permanent RSD or making a crappy product myself! Excited to order a set either way, TIA!

For the tacoma tailgate extension board it's about 57"x24" with the narrower part at roughly 53" and the legs are about 9" tall.
I have a feeling the interior cab width will be the limiting factor but please some photos if you end up trying this out!

Thanks for the quick reply! That’s what I was thinking too. Just did some crude measurements without a tape measure and got approx. 55” width. Will just order the long bed set for now, thanks again!
