Still all in my head… but I’m keeping the chrome bumper!
Ok I may have missed it in this thread but I’m almost done with the install and before I close up shop I wanted to ask if there is a specific torque for the four original bolts on the crossmembers? Mucho appreciated

Did you find an answer to this? What did you end up torquing it to?

And any of you use anti-seize on the bolts? All of the bolts or just particular bolts? Not sure if I should loctite it or be worried about it seizing from the heat and dirt under there.

I torqued the bolts to 35 lb-ft. I didn’t use loctite because the stainless steel “creaks tight” pretty well. I used a socket wrench for the key screws and a long torque wrench for the crossmember bolts. I don’t get the guys using impact drivers, not a safe route since most impact driver go close to 100 lb-ft.

hey there, I’m in the same boat. Do you remember what size the bolts were? I’m gonna go buy one as well since I’m also missing one

Yeah, it can be done with the truck sitting on stock wheels/tires at stock height. Cause i did the shield install on a trd sport 2023. No room for a creeper, just used large sheet of clean cardboard to slide on.

i was looking at this old thread wondering about other skids or protection that works with the miller cat 12ga shield.

It looks like one of the cat converters remains mostly visible and not behind the shield. I’d like to make everything better protected and not worth the time and extra steps.

I’ll be receiving mine today. Had my cat cut from my driveway Friday. Luckily my local dealer had one in stock and insurance has already reimbursed me.

Not many options out there for a third gen 4-banger but glad these guys make one.

Your local dealer had a new catalytic converter in stock!? I thought they were backordered for years, until the raw minerals can be extracted and remanufactured from the stolen cats….

Seriously, it sucks, had one stolen off an prior vehicle and ended up getting an aftermarket Federally complaint cat, which was just as well, traded for Tacoma, but seriously considered diesel or an ev to avoid the cat theft issue. The recycling team that took mine had black ski masks and an AR15 out the whole time on the camera footage, so just as well that i wasn’t near home.

Wow... got mine yesterday. Fortunately, I still have my CATs. Plan to install the Shield this weekend. Hope my CATs make it to the weekend. :infantry:

I was surprised too! I was so stoked. When I picked it up he said they had quite a few various ones in stock.

Received my shield last night, but I won’t throw it on til Saturday. I’m parking in the garage for now next to the wife’s 4Runner. I prefer to park outside our garage because I like to store our bikes and sports equipment in the garage.

Overall an easy install. Had one bolt not line up in the rear cover but the rest are secure and looks clean. Happy with the install and didn’t take more than 30-45 minutes!
