I didn't see anything on here for this stereo. I just put it in mine so I thought I'd make a thread with my thoughts on it and for people to ask questions. And for people needing help on install. IMG_9598.HEIC.jpg

In short, it's the bomb. way nicer and higher res than most of the android head units I've seen. Runs CarPlay, and you can put full feature Gaia GPS on it. You can also make it look pretty much however you want with some third party apps.

I like how yours has actual knobs. I just installed a Dasaita unit in mine. So far I really like it. Definitely not a polished headunit like a Kenwood or Pioneer but very functional. I really like the big screen and the ability to run Gaia maps or any android mapping software offroad.

My Dasaita did not need any wiring changes, just plug it in. I did have a hassle with the hazard button and clock area on my 2.5 gen. I had to buy a stock stereo from a pre-2011 truck and get the hazard bracket to make it work.

There is a thread over in the Audio & Video section

Is the OEM sharkfin gps antenna also plug and play? Or did you have to run an antenna?

The ZLink app on my Dasaita does, completely wireless Apple Carplay

It had an additional GPS antenna, although I just stuck it to the top of the unit and shoved it all in the dash. Works great.

I didn't have the factory touchscreen. so I didn't have one to start with. But I just put the one that came with it under the dash. It wedged in behind it pretty tight and I put some double sided tape on for good measure. It seems to work great there.

Ya, the knobs are a big reason I went with this one over the Dasaita. And no branding. Looks a little more OEM. I defiantly like the customization and utility that come with android though. The hazard bracket was already in the bezel on this one and clicked right in.

I took off the pillar, fished it under the dash and up to the stock mic location. Seems to sound better without the foam wind protector thing. There's an internal mic too. But I haven't tested it.

Sweet, thanks for the advice and pics! I still have the Entune Premium set-up I had when I bought the truck new, but it's pretty outdated now... especially since my wife's car has CarPlay functionality. And I like to ability to download Android apps, not just Android Auto. Are you able to get the Torque app? I have a cheapy bluetooth OBD scanner, so would be great to be able to use the app to get some extra gauges.

Does it come with the bezel, also do the steering wheel controls work. I see in the first pic that something is plugged into the usb port, does that still work.

I have the app, but I haven't gotten it to connect to my cheap bluetooth OBDII thing yet.

Comes with the bezel. The steering wheel controls work. You just have to go to the menu and set everything to the function you want. I took the cover off the stock USB/Aux and ran the two USB extenders that come with it down there. I dremeled out the cover so I could add the second one. Then I hot glued the two female USB's to the back.

I got mine on Amazon, but paid too much. search "dasaita tacoma"

Since you have a 2014 you will need to purchase a pre-2011 stereo for the hazard bracket like I did. I got mine on ebay for $30. https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...r-2nd-gen-tacoma.620084/page-42#post-24909753

There are ebay listings, the china one is ~$60 cheaper then what I spent on Amazon. I figured if I had major issues Amazons return policy was worth it. More searching would probably find a cheaper source.

Having read the specs, I find it interesting that the unit runs on Android 10, but has to be connected via USB cable to use Android Auto. However, if you use Apple CarPlay it connects wirelessly via Bluetooth.

By the way, I am currently using a Kenwood DDX6707S with all the appropriate iDatalink Maestro steering wheel controls and interface cables, and I HATE it.

That radio/bezel setup looks really clean in the second gen interior. I like how much screen they fit in the dash kit without it hanging off the radio like an afterthought. Have you used the car-play connection long term yet? I have the Alpine ilx-107 with wireless car-play, and ever since iOS 14 I've had horrible connection issues.
