Not true in regards to having to remove the shock tower to adjust the front Kings. Jack the truck up so the weight is off of it. Loosen collar adjust them tighten.

Yup...never had issues with adjusting a few of my buddies King's and my ADS on the truck. Like you said just need to jack it up to get the weight off of it. Oh and some good lube on the threads

I've done several searches and can't come up with anything but has anybody ran 6112s and ADS in the rear with Dakar medium springs? I would like to run the taller B12 (I think that's the name) spring so I can get the same lift with less preload. No extra weight at this time unless it's camping or hunting gear in the bed. Mostly Forest service roads and two track desert when not on pavement.

Interesting. You'd expect the split collar to just flex (at the split) if you try to turn it with coil preload applied (preload is still there with truck's weight off of it). That's what happens with the Elkas.

So completely did the opposite of what I was thinking. I called today and got an incredible deal on the icon setup making it only about $200 more than billies. So I did the stage 1 kit with camburg ball joint UCA’s. Really hoping I don’t regret it but it was too good of a deal to pass up and I was afraid of not going as high end as I wanted with Bilstein then regretting it later. As long as I don’t have to deal with icon customer service I should be good lol.

I’ve got icons with 700lb king springs in the front, b110’s and heavy Dakar’s in the rear.

Everyone’s opinion on ride quality is extremely subjective, but I’m happy with them.

They come with 650# springs correct? If you don’t have any weight in the front are the 700lb springs worth getting?

    Yes, they come with 650.

In my opinion, no. I’m pretty heavy with all the armor on my truck and I’m still probably over-sprung.

Ok cool. Most I’ll be putting in the front would be a Hybrid bumper and a winch at some point.

You're right to a point. FOX I think recommends compressing the spring to adjust but I've adjusted them on the truck by jacking it up to get the weight off. What you have to be careful of is loosening the bolt in the collar too much. If you back it completely out then the collar could distort, just need to take the tension off the bolt. I figure they put those 5/16" holes in there knowing that they get turned with at least some pressure on them. If they really expected to completely unload the spring you would be able to adjust them by hand or at most a smaller punch that would bend if you're working against too much force.

FWIW, to the OP's question. I run FOX, not super high end remote reservoirs but plain 2.5 IFP shocks. I have no complaints really but if I'm honest I don't think the improvement is big enough over typical OME and Bilstein suspension to justify the cost in my use, so I wouldn't spend the money for them if I had it do over. IMHO unless you actually go to the effort to tune your shocks buying FOX/King/Icon/ADS/etc is purely cosmetic.

Salt will be the death of everything metal. You have to go to some extreme measures to prevent rust in a highly corrosive environment. Clear zinc isn't going to do it.

You're all correct. The single collar preload rings CAN be adjusted on the truck if you remove the load off the vehicle and don't loosen the pinch bolt up too much. That doesn't mean you SHOULD. You run the risk of skipping threads and to be quite honest, it can be a HUGE PITA if you're trying to make a significant change and have a heavy spring on the truck. Depends on how much preload there is in the spring really. I prefer to remove the shock and take measurements. Doing it on the truck is almost just as time consuming and a lot more effort. (depending on the amount of change you're trying to make.)

Does anyone know how much lift these will have out of the box? I am leaving my rear leafs stock for now and want to have it as level as possible. Also do their kits come with a spammer wrench or should I order one?

It’s adjustable, which you should’ve been well aware of already to even consider this type of shock. You can use them with zero lift, and you can generally tell the vendor to set them up for your desired height before they ship.

Most don’t come with a wrench.

Out of the box height varies a little but should be somewhere between 1.25 and 2”.

Unless, like @T4RFTMFW said, you can have the vendor adjust them before they ship it to you.

Mine came set at 2.5 lift
    No spanner wrench
I’ve been happy with my icons
    Had them rebuilt at 40k
I’ve been running/wheeling them for close to 70k.
    No issues

I know they’re adjustable just was curious what they came set at. I think I only need an inch of lift in the front but I don’t know how much thread that leaves showing.

You can most certainly bump them down, you just don’t want too go to high an bind up the springs
