Y’all must be doing it wrong… load up the trucks and boats, grab some women, find an island, bring chainsaws and weed whackers and do a little clearing, set up camp… the rest is up to you, but it stays on the island!!

 

I'm with you. Get out there, sleep as primitive as you can. Leave the big camp kitchens. Bring a diesel heater or camping AC unit. Eat MREs. Decompress.

 

That does look awesome. I can already tell you the way I did it was wrong and the Army ruined it

putting up giant tent for enlisted and officers, guard duty, fire watch, radio guard, MOPP gear and gas masks, no beer, terrible food, rain deer games…

the only fun part was the rare occasion of watching the Apaches blow shit up

 

that really hits home

But it's time to reclaim that trauma. I promise, if we do a group camp event, nobody will make you put up their tent. While I'll probably eat shitty food, i'll have beer. It's the best parts of being out there - effing around with your buddies; pouring chemlight juice on a mouse and trying to catch it; Pranking other people; listing to their stories; then sleeping the whole way through the night. No guard duty. No Stand-to before sunrise.

 

Sounds like we need a TW camping trip

I took my truck to Applicahcia Offroad this week can't wait to get back and pick her up.
