Did either or both have the spray-in bed liner? Saw a video where the bedliner caused too much friction at the hinge joint. Will probably self correct over time.

I thought the bed was composite.

Tried to. But they balked at my demand for free undercoating and floor mats so I stormed out.

Bedliner is rubberized and helps stuff from sliding around.

or just go to tractor supply and get a horse stall mat for like $40 to do the same thing

It is. They are offering a factory (port-installed, probably?) spray in liner in addition. 'Cause, why not?

I wonder how they will hold up. It seemed like folks had a hard time getting liner to adhere to the composite bed on the 2nd and 3rd gens? Does Toyota have the secret sauce?

My ‘09 has an OEM mat. It’s served me well.

Because spraying beds that arent metal is very weird. Just throw a mat down.

Look at how terrible the tundra spray in bedliners have held up:

Anyone know if there is a TRD Pro or Trail Hunter at the NYC auto show going on now?

Not sure about the trims though. Probably the same orange OffRoad theyve been lugging everywhere

I have a mat because the plastic is slippery. Dirt, gravel, and twigs end up between the bed and the mat. Have to pull the mat out, spray or blow the crap out, then put the mat back in. I could see the value of a spray in bed liner. OEM mat is about $150 but you can get comparable for $100. Maybe if you had just the bottom done it would be less than $450 or, obviously do it yourself.

It is, but when they put the composite bed in the 3rd Gen Tundra I don't think the sensitive Tundra buyers could understand a composite bed without a bed liner. So they started spraying bedliner on top of the composite and charging a bunch of money for it.

They had lots of problems with the spray on bed liner on the Tundra composite beds, peeling, cracking coming off....exactly what I would suspect would happen. But...you know...They gotta get their $600 somehow

I'm not so sure these are sprayed port-side. It's possible Toyota has a specific composite bed for those that are being sprayed at the factory. They might be completely slick or more porous, depending on what makes the spray in adhere better.

If you look at videos you will see that the sprayed liner has "Tacoma" stamped/raised in the bed below the rear window, while the standard composites do not.

    Neither had the spray liner.

The SR5’s new aluminum gate just requires some tension adjustment, but should not leave the factory that way. My guess is the power tailgate had a sensor issue, nothing mechanical or motor related, as it correctly powered itself down. Quick adjustment in the service department should do the trick.

I’d suggest HR write up the worker inspecting tailgates at the factory. And if it’s the same guy who checked my hood gap alignment, at least consider getting him off the line and maybe transferring him to the marketing dept.

Maybe the tailgate inspector has a tequila problem.

    Now we're talking:

This is an auto 4x4 at a dealer near me. Probably no options, and no added on crap from the port. Just what I want. (although undecided on the 14" screen)
