If you just want to be a trail limo and need protection from "oh shit" moments, maybe go aluminum sliders. They are a 1/3 of the weight of steel, can still support the trucks full weight, and best of all won't rust.
Next time they have a sale I plan on getting a set for myself

You’ve got a 2016, have you replaced the CPS? That was a fairly common issue on those

Mine are bolt on but as far as I’m concerned, they are never coming off

I had Slee install them when I was out in Colorado. Was totally worth the install cost to sit in the waiting room while someone else dealt with them - mine are drilled through the frame on the bottom side and there’s also an extra tab welded on the rears for extra support. They had it done in under 4 hours.

 

In 2018 with 20k it was replaced.
That was total loss of acceleration and shifting at wrong times. Scary at 50+mph

The only potential con in aluminum armor is that it won't slide on rocks like steel, it'll have a tendency to gouge instead.

Highly doubt that's a huge concern for you, as your truck isn't a crawler and these would be there as a precaution, but food for thought.

 

It had crossed my mind, but yeah, I do more of the kiddie trails, this would mostly protect me from the occasional oof moment.
Btw, I'm fine with my timid approach, it's my DD and even so, I'm betting it's gone to places and trails that 99% of all 'off-road' vehicles Mall Crawlers have feared to tread.

Love my KO2s, no uneven wear with 30k miles. Rotate regularly. They are amazing in mud and snow, less so in rain.
