After 10 years I finally got a good set of wheels put on my taco... I’ve beat the hell out of this truck but now that I work at a Toyota dealership doing contract delivery driver work and have access to discounts, I’m going to start rebuilding my taco.

I needed a set of tires and got a better deal on 4Runner take offs (wheels AND tires) than I could get buying the crappiest of Walmart street tires. I’m SO happy I did it. Next up is going to be a set of mud tires...

next up is removing the rest of the fender flares, ordering new ones, getting a new hood, pulling the dents, and refinishing the interior.

can’t wait to get my taco tank back to her former glory...

If you don’t mind me asking, curious on what the discount was on those trails. Been looking at sets and they go for 1500 + where I’m at.

    She looks good!

Let’s just say my boss gave me an offer so good I’m buying a second set of wheels and tires... I paid $250 for the set of wheels and tires. They are takeoffs so they come from vehicles on the lot that the customers upgraded wheels and tires on. I got mismatched all terrain tires but the second set I’m buying is going to be all road tires. I do enough off roading that I’d rather have mismatched tires than matching road tires lol. That being said I’m buying some actual mud/trail tires ASAP. I can’t stand how passive the tread looks on a 265... if it’s skinny it’s gotta be aggressive.
On a side note I also just noticed I’m getting better fuel economy with the new setup over the stock steelies and overly wide AT’s.
I’m honestly shocked I cut enough unsprung weight to make a difference.
I’ll find out for sure tomorrow when I go on my 200-300 mile delivery route.

one thing is for sure, the truck rides and handles A LOT better than it did before. Super stoked to wear these tires out lol

The dents on my hood are from my hood latch failing while getting in the freeway a couple weeks ago. That was a terrifying experience.

the rest of the dents are from off roading/idiots in parking lots. Gonna upgrade the bumpers soon and get a new hood too. Obviously a new windshield is next tho... lol

Am I seeing this right? I have always wondered, and posted here, if there was ever an OEM Taco Reg Cab with something other than the bench seat. Do I see bucket seats in Your’s? Did they come with the truck as new?
Maybe the 4WD reg cab and the 2WD reg cab are not the same Cab?

The 4x4 reg cabs only came with bucket seats. The standard 2wd reg cabs only came with buckets. It’s one of the main reasons I picked it up. At the time almost a decade ago I had been looking for a reg cab 4x4 for a year before I found this one. Never realized how rare they actually are until I got my parts delivery contract. Every Toyota dealership I show up to, I wind up getting swarmed by salespeople trying to get me to trade in my truck and they always mention how few were actually made.
After that I decided I’m never getting rid of it and I’m restoring it. I’ve treated it like a red headed step child and it’s given me nothing but love lol. Time to reciprocate its reliability.

I’m late to this party but wanted to add if you purchased a Reg Cab with a manual transmission it came with a bench seat.

    I traded a 2012 RC 4x4 for a 2014 Auto to get the buckets… Love them buckets!!!

Love those wheels. I've got them myself. Paid $525 shipped off of ebay. New take offs.
