Ok just asking just incase myself & service manager & my writer at my toyota store are missing something.
Came to the conclusion that incoming phone call speaker volume is controlled by the radio volume knob & that gets quiet loud! No way of defaulting it to a loud setting so it doesnt go whisper quiet..
My issue no is the voice volume while youre navigating, its not loud at all, outright sucks, especially if youre listening to music while driving.
Yes ive been an engine tech for 30+ years, airtools, etc, but im still the best in the shop at pinpointing noises.
Dont think im going deaf, even though I am 51, hearings good, I think!
So I went to the store & manager messed with the system & he thinks this is the setting & its cranked all the way up. It is what it is...
    Is this correct?
or are they missing something, lmk
My guess is they cant be right, its pretty bad...
Would imagine you can make it as loud as the phone call volume if you wanted?
They seem to think its "system voice"
another note, is everyones other levels on that last screen not adjustable?
    Im using an iphone.

When phone is ringing....lower volume. When navigation directions are speaking...raise the volume.

    I tried that....
I dont know if it lowers as im always trying to crank it up & directions are always short...
So cant say I tried lowering during nav directions but definetely tried cranking it up.
no-way near as loud as phone call volume.

Ill try your recommendation again when im out.
If I try & lower the volume during directions & it goes silent, we confirm thats it!

Try using CarPlay instead of the embedded system.

I did try this today & that works, just NAV doesnt get nearly as loud as phone calls. Was able to verify NAV was maxed-out.
Have not tried the carplay deal yet...
Guess it just gives me an excuse to upgrade the speakers, sound deadener in-route...
Just need to go on Amazon & buy some motivation...

Did you check the levels in the phone? Sometimes those are set to half or less, causing what your asking about.

This is a common gremlin across makes. My wife's Pacifica also behaves in this manner.

from what i remember the auto leveling option maybe your issue. i would turn that off since it adjust the volume up as your speed goes up.

i know on my 2014 4runner, i have to readjust my phone media volume to get a decent volume on my head unit.

if its set to low i have to really crank the head unit volume to compensate.
