It’s interesting and expected, to see more and more postings about repairs and replacements and high mileage maintenance. Very different from the forum’s early years when it was mostly about new purchases and first mods.
Owning a 2016 since new, I appreciate this trend.

Very true, luckily for us there’s the “50+” and “60+” threads so we can keep adjusting as we age :pccoffee:

What's fun is watching all of the complainers and silly questions gradually transition to the new generation. Just like what happened between 2015 and 2016.

One thing I appreciate, as a newer Tacoma owner, is that this forum covers all years. I’ll never understand why new sites are setup for long-running models like the 4Runner. I saw a new site dedicated to the newest model only. There may not be a lot of shared components but knowledge can still be shared.

I appreciate the experience, knowledge, and help from everyone who has had to deal with any sort of issue prior to the rest of us experiencing it!

This is particularly great benefit on this Taco board.

We can still ask about tire sizes and oil brands though, right?

I believe it is inevitable that the frequency of these questions will increase despite no more 3rd gens being produced... The typical original buyers were no spring chickens in general...
As the owner pool ages, I fear they (we) will repeat themselves more and more. The rest of us will respond accordingly, also not remembering that we already beat that to death.

It will be interesting to see if the answers will remain consistent, or if they will shift. Maybe in time, the average lift will become a lowering kit, and the average OCI will increase to 15k accommodating the aging owner's abilities and capabilities...

So true, there are so so many threads here that are not needed on the things you mentioned but don’t forget about batteries

We’re on the downward trend of 2nd gen failures… most are already dead :bananadance:

naw all their frames got replaced like the 3rd gens.... (still boggles my mind toyota dealt with this from 1st gen on...) Drivetrain wise 2nd gen 4.0L and 5spd auto (we dont talk about 6spd auto issues), are bullet proof.

Makes sense. Maybe part of it is the higher cost of a new vehicle versus one's income. I've always been of the mind if I bought new/almost new, keep it forever. Some aren't able to have that option with new trucks costing close to 50K

Agreed to a point re the 1g and 2g, but remember too that the 1G frames first cropped up as an issue in 2008 re Toyota dealing with it at least. By then you had 4 yrs of the 2G on the road and I'm sure many more frames already made for them.
