If you live in the Rust Belt states where they are doing the CRC treatments on frames I would go that route first or see if Toyota will cover yours. Defiantly do something though if you plan to keep your Tacoma long term and you live in rust prone areas.

Find someone local that does Fluid Film and do it every year from now on. This has been fluid filmed since new in 2015.

It looks great on the outside.
However if the salt creeps into a area it sits there.
    I found one by accident.
It looked great then i stuck my finger right through the frame. Would have never known..

    Ziebart didnt fail the frames.

Toyota did when they used cheap metal and we aloud them to get away with it by continuing to buy these trucks knowing the frames are crap. We failed ourselves and only have ourselves to blame for letting Toyota get away with this. Stop buying these trucks and then Toyota may do something about it.
Im about ready to replace my wifes 13 Sienna and we have only bought Toyotas since 1992. Not sure what I will buy next but I do know it wont be another Toyota. Im leaning towards Honda or Mazda right now.

Ziebart will ruin your vehicle. Some mechanics will even refuse service for it. Stick with yearly oil sprays if you’d like to keep it more than 10 years.

Care to elaborate on how it was ruined? Why did the mechanic refuse to work on the truck?

I am in Florida so I don't know a thing about coatings, other than observation. My brother-in-law lives in Maryland and owning a landscape business he has many vehicles that he has had coated over the years. I will never do Ziebart on any of my vehicles no matter where I live. The Fluid Film seems like a better option. I can't see how anyone can do any maintenance on a vehicle wit Ziebart coating.

In addition to the above TST treatment under the hood. Those of you that keep it spotless in the engine dept. Dust sticks like fluid film and if you look its sort of like a sticky film. I have removed it from most of the painted surfaces trunk lid, radiator supports ect.. using 303. Jet. I did all of this before i discovered this place. Looking back I think I did the correct thing because I am old and it will be a battle to see who goes first. And when I am 70 I may not want to be crawling under my equipment any more.

I got the kit a few years ago on Amazon.
For 150 bucks, it comes with everything you need.
All you need is an air compressor and a set of ramps. Easy-peasy.

I wouldnt recommend any rubberized undercoating....they all provide protection for a while but then once moisture gets behind coating, it accelerates rust.

I DO however go to Zeibart annually for the a wax style rust protection treatment. I prefer it over Krown, seems to stick better and by spring my frame etc is still completely coated where with Krown it would seem to also wash off after a couple months.

No Ziebart and nothing like Ziebart. Never Ziebart anything. Honestly promotes vehicle corrosion in all cases, no exceptions. Traps moisture and salt against the frame.

OP, Fluid Film and Krown are the best products to use. Many in the North Country rust belt swear by Krown. I use fluid film on my Jet Skis when I winterize them but use Krown on my vehicles.

The problem with Ziebart is moisture and salt always manages to find it's way between the sealant and the frame. It sits there because there is alack of air to dry it out and the chemical reaction begins (rust). The thing is you can't see it.

As for mechanics, I personally know 2 mechanics in the Watertown, NY (Fort Drum) area that will not touch an older vehicle that has been undercoated. Why? 1. responsibility. 2. it opens up a rats nest of rot and cascading problems when all they want is to complete the job, get paid and get the vehicle out of their garage.
