Last year I did a backpack trip. I brought one blade. My leatherman Fuse. I needed the pliers to remove fishhooks , the scissors to cut 3-lb line, and the knife for knife business. It was phenomenal! The pliers were great to move a hot pan around.

It changed the way I thought about those things. I’d never wear one in the belt pouch even tho I do heavy construction engineering.

I took that same Fuse on a trip to Peru. It cut fruit I didn’t recognize at farmer stands. It cut catfish into bait chunks. It opened more beer bottles I care to admit to.. total MVP! My Fuse is a discontinued middle of the road tool my brother gave to me for free. He had a box with a hundred of them. His SWAT team thought they were to boring.

It definitely elevated the tool beyond a truck glovebox thing for sure. I only have the one. I do have the original Leatherman that first came out, but it has no scissors. It never use it. It was my stepdads. Stamped Portland OR.

You? I kinda want the Victorinox SwissTool Spirit X.

I have a leatherman wave and in each vehicle plus one in my toolbag and junk drawer in the kitchen. I also have a Rev laying and a few random gerbers laying around. I think they are awesome to have around and come in handy in a pinch.

I have a Leatherman of some sort and a couple versions of Gerber tools. The SwissTool is my favorite of them all.
