Hey everybody, look at me, I have a Yeti am I'm sooooo cool. I'm sorry but what a complete waste of money, you bought a name for an extra 20 bucks. These things are no different than any other travel mug.

Agreed. They have fantastic marketing for a Chinese made product. o_O

That being said- received mine as a gift 3 yrs. ago; use all day everyday. It is simple, and it works.

(Full disclosure: I own a Pelican 35qt cooler that lives in the back of my truck!)

My experience indicates otherwise. My 20oz Yeti keeps coffee hot longer and cold drinks colder than any other travel mug I've used (and there have been many). A bonus is that it's WAY easier to clean. No springs, latches, push buttons, etc. Well worth the extra $$ in my opinion.

I agree. I've not found a cheap thermos that compares.

Now, if the RTIC one does a better job, that's obviously a better deal but it wasn't available when I got my lager Yeti rambler.

$40 is seriously not that big of a deal. This is Tacoma World, where men spend tens of thousands on modifications that make people go OOOOOO, AAHHHHHHHH. So seriously, let's not make a big deal out of $40 for a mug.

Actually it kind of is a big deal and not everyone goes oo ahh looking at the mods people do. When I look at a lifted mall crawler here I think its a joke and complete waste of money. These cups are the same thing in the sense that its something you don't need and doesn't provide you with anything positive towards your life except you think you bought yourself an identity that always ends up leaving you feeling unsatisfied. Right now your justifying your 40 dollar purchase by explaining the special features of this magical cup that has transformed your life but in the end you'll realize this buy admitting its just another cup. You realize this when it comes time to buy another cup, buy another yeti or buy a basic cup, your going to buy the basic cup because you realized that nobody cared about your cool Yeti cup and you didn't get the reactions you were looking for.

Sorry guys, I just like to rant about these things. I'm just like all of you and like stupid things but the older I get the more I realize how much of my life I wasted working to buy useless things that never really helped me move forward with life. I've been spending the last 2 years getting rid of crap and it is so liberating and give me such a free feeling I just had to share here.

I think you are being overly judgmental and being the one caring way too much about a stupid cup.

I personally don't like the Yeti company. So I'm a little ashamed to carry around a cup that has that on the bottom. Which is why I'm going to deck mine out with some decals to distract from the Yeti stamped in the metal. They just happened to be the only maker I could go with at the time.

I have spent more money on the thermos' I've thrown in the trash (including the cost of the Gorilla glue that held my last one together) than this one that will likely last me years So I don't get your point in this rant about pissing away money.

I really don't care about what other people think. I just want a hot cup of coffee.

You are seriously judging the character and finances of an individual that buys a particular brand of cup.
    Come on man.

I think now you should start being concerned about how much time you spend on things that don't excel you in life.

    Thanks Dr. Phil!

Comparing a $40 coffee mug to thousands of dollars in mods is a bit of a stretch!

Yes I am judging the character of a person that carries a Yeti cup, it tells a lot about a person. I'm not saying that person is bad, but it does tell me there is some dissatisfaction or emptiness in that persons life.

No its not, its the same thing but different toys. If the mods actually served a purpose that's different.

Its all about useless overpriced crap to get attention, the I phone is a classic example. What makes it funny these days is most of that crap is just mass produced China junk, its not even special.

The Yeti coffee mug serves a single purpose better than any other I've found, period. I like my coffee and I like it to stay hot. If that makes me excessive....GUILTY!

You care more about my Yeti cup than I do. This is what is sad about this conversation. You are putting more importance in the brand than anyone else here ever did.

This conversation is making me dissatisfied with my life.

    This, lol! ^^

People can be strange sometimes. I don't think I have ever judged anyone by their mug/cup, lol. o_O

Does the BIG RTIC one fit in the center console cup holder (not the one forward of the shifters)? One of their selling points is that it's tapered differently than the YETI to fit in more cup holders, that would be a big selling point to me over the Yeti. I hate putting it in the back cup holders in my Tacoma and under the radio isn't a great spot either (plus the stupid adjustable divider in my 2009 Tacoma won't hold it steadily if it's full). It also won't fit in the center console cup holder in our RX350 without removing the divider. Oddly enough it DOES fit in the center console cup holder in my 2001 4runner.

Just the shifters. However 1 of the 3 RTIC cups I order is starting to rust on the outside of it? To be just a few weeks old, I'm not having it for a $20 cup. See what they have to say about it.

No it won't fit. Just fits by the shifters. But a user in this thread showed how he made an adapter for it with a koozie.

The post with the adapter (that I saw) was for a Yeti mug not the RTIC. The RTIC is sized differently on the bottom to fit smaller cup holders, just wondering if it is small enough to fit ours.
