Probably going official next week and then open for at least a couple weeks. All those details are being worked out this weekend.

Absolutely. There might be additional charges to get it to Hawaii, but 100% doable.

A lot of people wonder why in ^%* you would pay so much for a cooler. I was picking up a Yeti cooler at a bass pro shops once and the guy in line behind me nearly keeled over when he saw the price. I told him they were good coolers, they keep stuff cold for a week and they're grizzly certified (we were going into the mountains that day). He said "I just use a styrofoam cooler and carry a shotgun, hyuk hyuk!". Well, a lot of good that shotguns going to do when your asleep dummy! I personally like to use these new tough coolers because there's a good chance that after a few years they won't be destroyed like all the other coolers I've wasted money on! I can count on them to hold their cargo even if they do shift sideways or fall over in the box of the truck. I can count on them to keep my ice frozen and my food cold for the duration of the trip, period.

I own/owned a few different brand coolers including Yeti and Pelican so here are some comparisons.

The Yeti is thinner walled, less insulation, larger space for stuff inside for the size of the cooler. The Pelican is thicker, heavier, and uglier if that matters. The Pelican's plastic is "more yellow" and I think after a few years it will look pretty gnarly once dirt and sun gets to it. The Yeti's finish looks like it will stay attractive for longer.

I prefer the Pelican's beefy latches, the Yeti's rubber ones are more awkward to work with at times because you have to pull downward and stretch them every time. I'm talking one handed use here, cause usually you've got a glass or a bottle in the other hand, right? On the other hand, if you're at camp and you like to leave the latches open all the time, the solid Pelican latches stick straight out from the cooler and can catch your pant legs and shins as you walk past, which can be a bitch at times.

Both coolers can be strapped down to your deck/bed without hindering the operation of the lid. However Yeti tried to design their system so that you have to use their $50 tie down kit, while with the Pelican you can just use any old strap or bungee cord easily.

The Yeti lock hasps are cast in the plastic of the cooler and lid, the Pelican lock hasp is stainless steel on top and cast plastic on the bottom. If your neighborhood grizzly bears have a hacksaw they can easily get into the Yeti, but the Pelican will make them work for it. :notsure:

The Yeti coolers, and most other premium coolers perform about on par with the coleman extreme 5 coolers found here:

    http://www.coleman.com/Products/8581/xtremereg-coolers

I still use my 100QT coleman when I need to carry a ton of food or the moose just won't fit in the other coolers. It was cheap compared to the other ones and it does the job just fine so why not?

I've found that the Pelican insulates better and therefore performs better than any other cooler, but it comes at a cost. I still use my Yeti more often than I use the Pelican. Why? Because the Pelican is freakin huge, and most of the time I only need to keep things cold for a few days. I've used the coolers for 2 week long trips and found that the Pelican was better suited to this type of use than the Yeti. It just consumed less ice than the others.

My favorite cooler is the little Yeti Roadie cooler. It's only big enough to hold 2 bags of ice, but sometimes that's all I take with me for a cooler on weekender or 3 day trips to pack light and all I need is a few steaks and some ice for whiskey. :D

I would definitely be in on this group buy if I thought I needed another cooler, they are great units!
