Anybody successfully installed the Yakima baseline towers with BC171 base clip system on the naked roof of their first Gen tacoma? This is the set that Yakima claims will fit the vehicle, so I recently ordered the setup from rack attack. After carefully following the directions, I can't get the rack system to fit the roof of my truck with the specified clips. Anybody had a similar issue? If anybody has had success with this system, could you post a picture and any helpful details about the install process? Thanks!

When I was setting mine up there new system would not work. I had to use the Q clip system.

For the life of me I don't know what Q number I used. I know for sure the Q-41 does not work. That's what I ordered first and it says it will work but it does not. There were 2 options at the time, and I don't remember what I got that did work.

I know Q16 clips are for '00-'04 double cabs. If that helps any.

will the Q16s work? I got this from the yakima site http://fitlookup.yakima.com/:

QTOWER FIT ON TOYOTA TACOMA DOUBLE CAB 4DR 2001-2004 (USA)

    BASE RACK
    TOWER: Q Towers 4 Pack
    FRONT CLIP/PAD: Q117 Clips
    REAR CLIP/PAD: Q117 Clips
CROSSBAR: Small (48") RoundBar Pair (2 CrossBars)
    FAIRING: 46" WindShield
    MINIMUM BAR SIZE: Small

I got some 117s from Amazon, I guess I'll find out soon :/

You'll be fine with the 117's. The 16's are old and were the only option on extra cabs for a while - even without the stretch kit. I've used them before on a double before.

Bringing an old thread back to life. You say the Q16 clips will work with 1st gen double cab tacoma? They will work with Q towers? I'm new to this old tech and want to be sure before I spend money.

I did find the old Yakima some s saying 01-04 DC Tacomas needed Q117 clips with Q towers.

For the best fit, get the Q117s. Not even sure they still make The Q16 any more. In the late 90s, they were the only ones available. It worked on the double cab. Not ideal but 90% good.
I have another 2004 double now and use the 117s I found locally.

Thank you for the update. I called and they have one set left in stock which is a pair. Unfortunately I need for Klipsch. Going to try my luck elsewhere but man these things are getting hard to find.
