There is a now-old thread CavMedic started about a year ago with much discussion about fuel-pump RFI on 20m with this setup, but the thread went cd with no resolution reported. I was wondering if anyone else has successfully installed this combo and if they were able ti resolve the issue, or did not experience it.

Did you install this in your truck? I just got myself a 2022 TRD OR and looking for some ideas where to install my FT891 with my ATAS-120, looking for some ideas to have it install where you can spin the dial while on the road.

I haven’t gotten back in a Taco yet, but my plan was to (re)use a Lido LM-300 seat bolt mount (Lido now has additional options designed to reduce vibration). In the past, I have found that mount easy to position the heads for managing the controls. there are probably better options if you spin enough to warrant a wrist rest of some sort.

I installed a BR-549 but now I’m getting sidefumbling in the lunar wainshaft. Plan on removing it and replacing with a Milford Trunion.

You guys should at least give a hint in your titles as to what the heck you’re talking about instead of just model codes lol.

    LOL!!

It's ham radio stuff. I knew exactly what they were talking about from the title but I've got some ham radio geek in my history, and an ATAS-100 in the lunar wainshaft.

Yeah that’s popular on my side of the geek house- control systems lol
It’s even funnier when you know what most of the components he shows in the cubicles really are

Nice installation! A few questions, if I may…

Any RFI issues? I hope the meter isn’t showing the noise floor!

Could we see a pic of that mount from the other side?

    thanks

    Indeed!

That video was especially fitting, given that Rockwell bought Collins Radio, who at the time made too-shelf amateur radio equipment (which you may have known, but I thought I’d mention it for those unaware (that might care)).

The noise floor is high, but I get that issue in my subaru crosstrek and my subaru sti so i find operating 20m while driving just not the best thing. With the key off the noise floor is S3 with motor running its S8

I've eliminated the RFI out of everything above 20 meters. Bonding is the key.

Thanks for the pics! I’m still undecided on mounting just my FTM-400XD, or stacking it and the DT-891. This gives me a good visual reference before I start tu egg Ning wrenches & pulling wires.

There’s a thread on here someone had chronicled there efforts to diagnose the 20m noise, but after tracing it to the fuel pump it went dormant.

Didn’t know that. These companies get bought out so often I can’t even keep up with who owns who these days.

Bought a whole roll of 1.25” flat braid grounding wire and realized my VHF/UHF didn't need RF bonding like you do on HF.

If you have a front fender mounted antenna, bonding just the hood improved my UHF receive signals. It was an unexpected byproduct of my HF bonding journey.
