Funny. I searched, then asked.. Let me know if you can do a search and find what size tires folks are running on the XRunner wheel please!

I guess I am more alone in my tastes that I previously thought.. it aint easy getting custom with max tire size while trying to stay OEM, but if it was easy I suppose everyone would be doing it!!

Interesting fact, there are less than 500 posts total with the keyword "Xrunner" in all of TW. It doesnt take too long to go through them all...

I wonder if the xrunner is this rare, or why folks are not posting about them on this site.... hmmm.

Oh. Well I just noticed you said X-runner but in my head I thought S-Runner as we're talking first gens. I'm gonna waster your time anyways with this info. Toyota produced roughly 13000 tacomas per month from 2000 to 2004 and of those, 800 per month were S-Runners.

I actually knew about the 800 per month for S-Runners but didnt know about the 13k for total Tacomas.. So roughly 6% of Tacomas were the legendary S-Runner's,cool!! I know they had either oak or charcoal interiors so that would make these seats I just picked up quite rare indeed!

The rareness factor.....not too much of a thing for me. But the comfort of those buckets just looks soooooo comfy:drool: I did 24 hrs driving in 40 hour block of time in the 60/40 bench seat. It sucked bad. :D
    You lucked out man

Back to the topic at hand, I did plenty of researching and shopping around and picked up some 2012 Lexus IS250 wheels in 17x8 with a 45 mm offset. Scored these gently used beauties for scorchin deal from a guy that pulled them off his wifes IS:
    20200212_124602.jpg

Then I took them to a wheel machine shop and got the centers bored out to 67.1mm, they have software that let them know exactly how deep to go for the hubs in my 2002 5 lug. I took them home and gave them a test fit to make sure, and was quite pleased with the results. If you go to a pro shop there are no worries about what you can or cant do, they have an app with wheel specs and tolerances. You can change center bores, bolt patterns, and even offsets depending on what you are trying to accomplish and the specific wheel of course.
    20200212_201053 (1).jpg

I then ordered up some Toyota center caps from the same 2012 era as my wheels, turned out the fit, look, and the color match was perfect!
    20200219_180545.jpg

Of course I had to pop one onto a wheel to take a look..
    20200219_193637.jpg
    20200219_193744.jpg

I also ordered some Michelin Pilot Sport 4S in 245/45/17 that should be at my local shop in just 3-4 days.. again got such a great deal on these since I got a hookup.

I cant wait to see it all come together!!

I totally got these for the comfort and love the fact they will bolt in and actually match my charcoal interior.. you said it best saying I "lucked out" finding them since they are so rare!!

They do need a bit of work and cleanup before installing, just got them this weekend. They feel sooooooo gooooooood though and the stock bench seats were the worst part of the truck!! I highly recommend finding some before they are all gone or too far gone condition wise.

I suppose you can tell by this thread already, I think seats and tires are perhaps the most critical parts of 4 wheel machines. Seats are where your body comes in contact with the truck, and tires are what connects the truck to the road!

They look great, can't wait to see them on the truck!

Any idea what the wheels weigh? I went from the stock 14" to 16" and the weight difference was enough that I notice it. It's not huge and not very drastic but acceleration is a tad slower. MPG dropped 1-3 also, depending on how much the skinny pedal is abused.

EDIT: I think the total difference for each wheel and tire was about 9 lbs. I think it was around 32 lbs with the 14" and around 41 lbs with the 16". Might not be remembering the actual values correctly but should be close.

I had picked these up thinking they looked sweet, were the right size for my vision, and also appeared to be a light weight design.

Just weighed one wheel with center cap (no tire) and my digital scale says 24.2 lb. Think I read some where the 18" Xrunner wheel was close to 33 lbs, so I shaved off some weight with this option it seems!!

The tires I ordered (Michelin Pilot Sort 4S 245/45/17) have a listed weight of 26 lbs so I guess it's going to be right around 50 lbs for my setup. Guess I will order up that turbocharger today!

Thanks for weighing! I read that too about how heavy the Xrunner wheels were and immediately ruled those out. My tires are still 215 wide so I probably saved a little weight there too although 245s would look pretty sweet.

Hey hey now, your Sonata wheels looking pretty nice on there!! What is your aspect ratio (tire size/sidewall spec)? 215/xx/16?

Curious how you found these would work?

Just to help others in the world of Tacoma's, I found this site gives the ability to search by diameter, bolt pattern, width, and offsets. Results will return every OEM wheel ever made in your desired specs.

What sucks is they forgot to add pics, so you need to scour other sites that sell oem wheels searching by year and model and/or google images to see what the heck they look like!

Enter finishlinewheels.com or stockwheels.com as a couple of the better ones I found looking for Toyota and Lexus wheels, though no site I found has them all of course..

And for those that like weight specs like us high performance oriented first gens(!), this was the only site I could muster up that listed weights https://www.rtwwheels.com/ , again they dont have everything sadly.

Hope this helps get some OEM wheels on other 5 lugs out there!!

Thanks man! Tires are 215/60/16 so they're about a 1/3" taller than stock. Offset is 44 and I think they fit perfectly, nice and flush with no rubbing. I spent many months on that exact website you listed (wheel-size.com) searching through make/models to find wheels that had a centerbore of 67.1 because I didn't feel like messing with boring them out. Jeep, Hyundai, Kia, Mazda and Dodge are a few that are 67.1 and Buick and Ford had wheels that were actually larger than that. I also spent a lot of time on ebay looking through wheel pics to determine offset specs that I had a hard time matching up on that website. The one thing I could never really find reliably was weight specs on any of the wheels I was interested in. I never came across that rtwwheels.com site, that would have been helpful! Seems pretty accurate too, I think my wheels did weigh right around the 22lbs listed on the site.

Man, I love the way your truck looked!

@Babybluetaco Thanks for the extra pic, getting a couple more beauties in this thread is putting a smile on my face! I will be adding mine soon as them darn tires come in of course..

@ireymon Those 215/60/16 tires on Sonata wheels really help fill the gap nicely! I wonder if the extra height may have added to the slightly more sluggish response you noted as well. I am hopeful the smaller diameter will compensate a bit for the added weight. Report to come soon..

My offset is 45 on the 8" wide wheel so this should be sitting nicely even with my 245's I hope. Forgot to mention the offset calculator was a huge help too. I could look up specs of what others said worked and see how it would effect the inner clearance and and far or in the wheel would stick out compared to stock and wheels I was looking at. And of course the legendary Tacoma World tire calculator for diameter and width spec comparisons gets a mention and was highly valuable!

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/tirecalc

Did the nice blue taco get sold? We all know Tacoma's never "need" a tow!! Please say no!

To help others that come across the thread, does anyone know the year they changed the hubs so you can run center caps on these wheels? The wheel shop told me since mine was "newer" the hubs would fit under the caps easily, yet in my mind this truck is far from newer at 18 years old!! Was it 2001 or?

The day has finally arrived.. the moment we've all been waiting for!!

Took a bunch of researching, calculating, shopping, and machining, but I think the sizing and offset came out perfect for my taste.

The truck feels much more planted and stable, yet I do feel the bumps a bit more with the shortened sidewalls. No noticeable difference in acceleration, perhaps the shorter tire offset the extra weight (still need to weigh my stock set). No rubs lock to lock either direction either. The tires are sticky as heck though, and chuck every bit of loose gravel they can get a hold of under the cab! Haven't taken it on a spirited run yet, but can't wait to get out there..

I love that these are made by Toyota in Japan, and am running the center caps with pride. I can see why not many folks choose to do this OEM yet custom route, but I am sure glad I did!!

    Looks great!

Do you happen to have a pic with the front wheel off of the hub dust cap? It's interesting that you are able to use the center caps. Wonder if it's different from mine or if it depends on the wheel. I tried bashing my caps and still couldn't get the center caps to fit.
