Picking up my new TRD Pro next month and considering doing the XPEL PPF...either front only or full body...would be interesting to get the following info from folks that had it done:

    1. Did you do front only or full body?

    2. What did you pay for it?

I am aware that not everybody is a fan of it or believes that it is necessary but it would be great if we could just stick to those two things and not let the thread turn into a general discussion. Thanks for sharing!

I just got my 2021 TRD Sport done yesterday.
XPel 8mil, bikini kit that cover the front of the hood almost to the scoop and the down the fenders, front bumper, grill and mirrors. They called it a Pro kit.

I paid $595 and had them also remove the black vinyl between the driver and passenger windows and they only charged me $10 for that. This was done by an Xpel certified installer that I found on their site so I get the full warranty.

I really, really, don't like rock chips (hence the name) so I got Xpel. Just the front due to cost. Matte on the hood only is a subtle difference that I like, and also helps with low angle sun glare when driving into the sun in the early morning or late evening.

So front end, for material plus install, was about $1400.

Is the 8mil the standard clear XPEL Ultimate?

And seems like a pretty good price. Best quote I've gotten so far was from a certified installer close to the dealership I'll be picking up at.

Quote was $1550 before tax for full front (Full Hood, Front Bumper, Grill, Mirrors, Lights...)

Looked at it the price made me run from it. Bought a can of dealer matched touch up paint for $20.

Pretty close to what I was quoted which is about 1550.

So you have clear XPEL on the remaining parts and stealth matte on the hood only? Interesting, I was wondering how the matte would look like. I am getting the lunar rock and think it might look good on it but not sure.

I know it's not the front end protection you're looking for, but I used their clear door sill kit and it has worked well. It's only been on for about 4 months but there are no visible scratches and any scuffs clean right off. Now I'm thinking about adding their headlight film if it helps with UV damage.

Yes, that's correct. I don't think the matte changes the color at all, but I am running super white. I'm looking for a pic to show the difference in reflectiveness of the stealth matte. Covered in snow on the west coast at the moment. Until I can find a picture the best I can attempt to compare to is the difference in eggshell finish house paint vs high gloss house paint. Both are tinted the same color, but the eggshell has a much diminished glare or reflection from light hitting it.

I got it for half the hood / partial fenders, all the front painted areas, mirror caps and door cups for just under a grand. It has held up very well. I wax it with a good carnauba wax every other wash. On a previous car I had 3M PPF and it started to yellow. Xpel is better imo

A few months back I reached out to some local vendors that I found on XPEL's site directly and I was blown away by the quotes I was receiving. For a full body wrap of XPEL Stealth PPF, the one that gives the appearance of a satin finish, I was quoted over $6k by more than one installer. If I wanted the XPEL PPF with a gloss finish it would have only been $1k less. These were full body wraps price quotes though. The prices you guys got for only the front-end seem a lot more reasonable. Though, if I do ppf I'd be more interested in protecting the fenders and doors from trail pinstriping.

Xpel will be my first mod when I get my truck. All my past vehicles has been sand blasted living in the northeast. I'd like to keep the paint looking fresh for as long as I can. Not the whole truck but as least the whole front end.

Same plan here. Are you planning on doing the full truck or just front?

Did you get any quotes yet?

Thats the quotes I've been getting. Would love to get the full truck done but 5k to 6k before tax just seems like too big of an investment to me on a 48k truck..

Even the 1.5k for the front alone is some hefty money that will hurt but plan on keeping this forever so I can probably convince myself of doing it that

Just wax the headlights and you won’t have an issue

and in regard to anyone else... to minimize the chips don’t drive so close to people. A little touch up paint can help too.. at the end of the day prob
Could get the hood and bumper all repainted for the 1500. Know if you are getting partial hood for bumper partial front fenders and mirror caps for under 1000 then it’s probably worth it

I got the ultimate plus silver package which was partial hood, mirrors, front bumper, grill, and fender tips for 900.

Also had them ceramic tint all the windows including windshield for 460.

Going to have them do the ceramic coating with 2 layers of clear coat soon for 900.

    Well worth it imo.

Not really convinced about this working either...biggest windshield damage I've ever gotten was from a rock that seemed to be coming out of nowhere...car in front was at least 200 yards or more away

I did it twice. First time was the front end package and rocker panels. After some tight trails I went to another shop and did full sides up until the roof and left just the leading edge of the hood alone. The only things not wrapped are 3/4 hood, roof, and rear bumper. I think I spent a little over a grand the first time with tint and like three grand on the second time. Looking back I should have made the bigger investment up front instead of wasting product.

No quote yet but I know the shop I'm using no matter what, @DetailersDomain on Insta, and I'm willing to spend $2k-$2.5k for a full front end and rockers if it fits in the price.
