Hi all, looking to trade my garage door opener for a sunglasses holder. Pics are attached. Mine is grey, so yours would need to be the same color.

@MESO someone told me on here previously that the sunglasses holder and garage door opener had the same dimensions and were swappable. They had listed you as their source of information. Can you confirm that is in fact the case? Thanks!

They are the same outside dimensions, but you might run into an issue trying to get the sunglasses holder into a non sunglasses holder. It has a deeper pocket, and the hinge point holes will need to be made. Here’s a 2nd gen I had on hand. You can see the difference betwwen the 2 pockets

Thanks for the info! I have one follow-up question. I will sometimes see overhead consoles like mine listed as fitting model years 2005-2011. And then I’ll see dual sunglasses holder versions listed as only fitting 2005-2008. Do you know why that is? Would they actually fit my 2010?

No worries, thanks for the info. I’ve seen my style overhead console listed for sale for 2005-2011 Tacoma’s, and then I’ve seen dual sunglasses holders listed for 2005-2008s and 2012-2015s. Obviously the 2012-2015s won’t fit mine, it just seems weird that they would make 2 different overhead consoles for the same application that have only a partial overlap in compatibility.

Basically, I’m trying to figure out if this will fit my truck. It looks like it should, but the ad only says up to 2008, which seems odd. It looks almost identical to my current unit.

What do you have on the back end of yours. I have a 06 and it has the thermometer in the front and sunglasses in the back. I'm not sure what year they moved the thermometer, but I think it was 08. That may be why the one you pictured says 05-08.
