WRX seats. Who’s done it?

so my seats in my 2000 Tacoma have seen some better days. I’ve been trying to upgrade to 95-00 SR5/Limited buckets, but couldn’t find a set. A coworker of mine is getting ready to install bride racing buckets in his 2011 Subaru WRX. I’ve seen some people have installed earlier WRX seats from like 2000-2002, has anyone installed 2011 WRX seats? How well did it work? How much fab was involved?

Fab work wise - a lot. This is for any aftermarket seat in general.

Yes but you could always buy aftermarket seat tracks and then attach the seats to the already made tracks,
That would help a lot but you would have to measure

They’re nice, but way too expensive. I was going to buy some for my Lexus ES300 seats - but they were about $120 each.

I might have to end up getting those pre-made ones. I welded up my own rails by cutting the Tacoma mechanisms off, and keeping the sliding features and welding angle iron to that.

The issue is they sit waaaayyyy too high off the ground. Those are nice because they're low and already have the slider built in.

Yup these fit nice and low and tight fit.
These would definitely make a swap much easier

I bought some wrx seats but ended up selling them. The base of the seat was several inches thicker than oem and even with custom brackets would have put ny head into the ceiling.

Who makes these aftermarket seat tracks. And do they attach easily to any seat?

They are made by Corbeau for their seat but could be used for other seats.

I think Wedge makes custom brackets. You tell them your vehicle and the seat and they make it to-order

I can't imagine Subaru seats being a good fit, the seats in my Forester were narrow and tall, ideally the seats for a Tacoma would be wide and somewhat short. I have seats from an Infiniti Qx4 in my 4runner, used the stock rails from the Infiniti and hacked quite a bit, but they work.

I took the easy way out on the Tacoma, I had a pair of Sparco Fighters around from a scrapped project, so I bought their mounts and bolted it all together. They're a bit tall and fixed back, but I was able to get them into a comfortable position for me messing with spacers.

For someone looking for an inexpensive and easy junkyard option I'd reccomend starting with seats from an early 2000s Xterra or Pathfinder. We've put multiple sets in older pickups and they are very close to a bolt in option in those. Will require a little more work in a Tacoma, but they will fit well.

@UnderFire What kind of quick release steering wheel set up is that? I notice the hub covers the entire hole which is awesome.

The quick release and hub setup are both NRG. I believe the hub is an SRK-121. It's the Lexus hub for a late 90s LS400 I know that. I have the SRK-120H, which is what NRG now lists as correct in my 4runner and it doesn't cover the hole as well.
