Getting some good info from one of the admins on the torque forums:

Seems like the second param is not useful, and that A and B are packed into the first param. I think with my latest reading he may be able to nail this down for us :)

that does look good but how did he derive the value?? now whats the scaling value than 4608 needs to be a part of a scale for the temperature or is that the resistive value??

Hehehe, sure thing! Been driving us nuts which only makes the need for an answer even stronger! I think the fellow there may have gotten the magic to work. Out running some tests now, looks promising.

Good point - the PID/EQ combo we're working on I've been testing on an 09. Based on the thread you linked, the 10+ peeps need to use PID 2182 not 21D9. Can someone with a '10 or '11 try sending each PID using the Test button and post back what the response is (mainly interested in the two long hex strings)?

This code appears to work with the 05 to 09 for each of the two Transmission fluid temp. sensors:

Here is how I entered in Torque:

    For sensor 1 (Pan Temp):

    OBD2 Mode and PID:
    21D9

    Long Name:
    Transmission Fluid Temperature 1

    Short Name:
    TFT 1

    Minimum Value:
    0.0

    Maximum value:
    220.0

    Scale factor:
    x1

    Unit Type:
*F (there is a degree symbol in Torque to use in place of the *)

    Equation:
    ((((E*256)+F) * (7/100) – 400)/10)

    OBD Header to use:
    left blank

For sensor 2 (Converter outlet temp):

    OBD2 Mode and PID:
    21D9

    Long Name:
    Transmission Fluid Temperature 2

    Short Name:
    TFT 2

    Minimum Value:
    0.0

    Maximum value:
    220.0

    Scale factor:
    x1

    Unit Type:
*F (there is a degree symbol in Torque to use in place of the *)

    Equation:
    ((((G*256)+H) * (7/100) – 400)/10)

    OBD Header to use:
    left blank

Let me know if this works!

My 2010 results using the 2182 PID:

    Sensor 1:

    Result for equation: 0.0
    Commmand: 2182
    Response: 618248804880

    Sensor 2:

    Result for equation: 0.0
    Commmand: 2182
    Response: 618248804880

Doesn't seem to be working on the 2010 with the 2182 PID.

Interesting... you get some response, just not what I expected. In my 09, the command doesn't even get a response.

Ok I think i figured it out for the 2010+ Tacoma

    For sensor 1 (Pan Temp):

    OBD2 Mode and PID:
    2182

    Long Name:
    Transmission Fluid Temperature 1

    Short Name:
    Trans 1

    Minimum Value:
    0.0

    Maximum value:
    300.0

    Scale factor:
    x1

    Unit Type:
    °F

    Equation:
    ((((A*256)+B) * (7/100) – 400)/10)

    OBD Header to use:
    left blank

For sensor 2 (Converter outlet temp):

    OBD2 Mode and PID:
    2182

    Long Name:
    Transmission Fluid Temperature 2

    Short Name:
    Trans 2

    Minimum Value:
    0.0

    Maximum value:
    300.0

    Scale factor:
    x1

    Unit Type:
    °F

    Equation:
    ((((C*256)+D) * (7/100) – 400)/10)

    OBD Header to use:
    left blank

I'm going to set the truck into the Diagnostic Mode to check and see if the numbers match up. If the PID and equation are correct, the A/T Temp light should light up at 115°F and start flashing at 130°F.
