Got into a minor accident last night. just curious if this looks repairable, or if insurance is going to total it. main concern is the space between the hood and the front quarter panel, along with passenger side wheel being kicked in.

Doesn't seem to be a "minor". Also depends on the year and mileage.

So, what would you consider a substantial accident?

It's repairable, but may be beyond economic repair.

Typically, an ins company will total a vehicle if the cost to repair is about 80% the value of the vehicle... So if worth $40,000 and cost of repairs is around $31,000 or less they will fix it.. The numbers are rough and depends on the ins company and availability of parts...

Did any air bags deployed?? If not, probably repairable...

Best thing to do is talk to your ins agent, that is what they get paid to handle...

    Sorry you it happened...

My friend had similar accident, no frame damage and cost him 10K ish. However, I see that passenger side front axle or arm is bent/damaged. That might cost extra, can you show us the frame? Take some pics to that bent tire.

    Its not a total

A minor accident? That looks like a pretty solid smack-down there brother. I think this one could go either way based on the view I have from my living room chair while watching hockey. But then again, what the hell do I know?

+1. to the airbags. generally, as long as the bags didn't deploy, they'll consider it repairable. most of it comes down to the severity of the impact, and continued liability for the insurance--when airbags deploy, it means the impact was substantial, and airbags and their wiring are one-time-use, which introduces a ton of additional costs.

What year, how many miles and did the airbags deploy?

You better hope it's totaled. That minor fender bender will never be back to pre-crash condition. There will always be a rattle, squeak, mismatched color, alignment, something issue.

Both parties were going under 30MPH, and walked away with no injury. That's why I used "minor".

I'd fix it. That would be easy.
