Lithium ion what? Lithium Polymer? Lithium Iron Phosphate? Lithium Unicorn Dust?

I'm immediately suspicious of any website that buries the details. The lithium and lead acid family have slightly different voltage outputs. 13-14V can run some 12V devices, but not necessarily a voltage sensitive vehicle ECU. It depends on the vehicle. How did they solve that, or did they? Are there any built in charge managers, because any "lithium" needs that as well.

Lithium is great for some things. I run a LiFePO4 bank on my camper and think its worth every penny. I took 110 pounds worth of deep cycles and swapped them for a 25 pound unit. But a starter battery? Nah. You can't shave much from a $150, 40 pound group 24 to make it worth the cost.

In the multi battery overlanding world these are a great choice with solar and distribution panels etc.. a daily driver it's not necessary.

It really depends on your budget and what you're trying to achieve. It seems all too commonplace in the "overlanding" world that budget is rarely a concern, at least judging by all the sponsored content on youtube etc... Kinda gives the impression you "need" all that stuff just to go out camping in the woods... (you do not)

But even with an unlimited budget, I would hesitate to have such a system that's fully integrated into the vehicle. I tend to have the same idea when talking about things like on-board air compressors. I'd rather have a portable system where you don't always have to be 10 feet from your truck to use it.

IMO, if you're going to spend $1000+ on a lithium battery, get a Jackery 1000. Almost 2x the capacity s the above lithium battery, is portable, integrated charging and management, integrated inverter, and can still be plugged in to the vehicle charging system and solar panels when stopped. There's always going to be a give and take with portable/integrated systems, but IMO far and away more bang for your buck.

If you ARE on a budget, there are most definitely better things to spend your money on for "overlanding". For the cost of that battery alone, you could practically kit yourself out with all the gear you'd ever "need" for a long weekend's worth of camping out in the woods.

I noticed the Anti-Gravity lithium battery when I purchased my Micro Starter XP-10HD Jump Starter from the same company. It's expensive! I just bought an Optima Red battery and thought the $250+ for that battery was pricey. I kind of agree with jbrandt that you can buy a nice solar generator or portable lithium battery and solar panels for the price of that Anti-Gravity lithium battery.

i've been looking at these for the MR2 once its all buttoned up... lightweight is the key there.

Weight is absolutely an issue with the trucks too. There are tons of people driving around with maxed out GVWR's because they insist on maxing out what can physically fit on their "overland" build (10 pounds of shit in a 5 pound bag, as it were), so I can see the alure of lightweight. But given the cost, and alternatives I mentioned before, $1000 just for a battery is pretty steep.
