Any of you running Nitto Trail grapplers? Happy with them?

Have them on both trucks, one truck came with them. The other ones are 33s and I got them for a deal.

In the mud, they're pretty good. Not as good as wild peaks but still pretty good.

In the rocks both big and small, when aired down, they were absolutely fantastic. They index it gripped every obstacle. Sidewalls are a little soft. I've got some pretty good gashes but they're holding up well.

They do all right for towing, little noisy but otherwise no issues.

All of that being said... They have zero attraction in the rain and snow. Firestone destination AT tires are better bet when it comes to wet traction. Absolutely cannot stand the ridge grapplers inability to do anything when there is so much as a bead of moisture on the ground.

So okay in the mud and sheet in the wet. What kind of wear did you see? I am coming from BFG KM3's-they suck in the wet/snow as well, but shine in the mud and rocks. Wearing much faster than I anticipated... A little worried about the C rating on the Nittos-can't remember a time on anything but E's, and I do tow a fair amount.

That Leer topper is close to East Coast Gear Supply. Get the topper and also make an appointment to get gears installed. Seems like a worthwhile trip

    Get Es if you're towing.

My 33 grapplers are wearing pretty evenly, and they do most of the off-roading and tow work.

The 31.5s are feathered and cupping, but I wonder how much that has to do with the previous owner driving around with unbalanced tires and wheels or blown shock or something like that. Once I balanced the tires and put new shocks on the rear, the truck rides a lot better,

You could look into the Yokohama Geolander M/T G003 - I was seriously eye balling them for the 80. @Thatbassguy aka Florida Man has a set and seems to like them.

Any true MT is going to suck balls on packed snow and ice. They'll be good in deep, fresh snow, though.

These things can't tow enough to necessitate LT/E tires. I towed on SL's for years with my old 4runners and Tacoma.

I do love them! But, I'd never use them in winter on purpose. :D

Just a heads up, if anyone is running a Warn VR winch, like me. There's been a safety recall of some sort on the remotes. Here's what someone copy/pasted on 4Runners.com:

    NHTSA Campaign Number: 22E101000

    Manufacturer WARN INDUSTRIES, INC.

    Components ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, EQUIPMENT

Potential Number of Units Affected 121,187

    Summary

Warn Industries, Inc. (WARN) is recalling the Wireless/Handheld Remote sold with certain VR EVO 8, VR EVO 8-S, VR EVO 10, VR EVO 10-S, VR EVO 12, VR EVO 12-S winches, and Remote Service Part. Please see the recall report for a list of all affected winch part numbers. Water may enter the handheld remote control for the winch and cause circuit board corrosion, which can allow the winch to operate unintentionally.

    Remedy

As an interim action, WARN will provide owners with instructions to inspect the remote for corrosion and disable the wireless function by removing the battery pack from the remote. If corrosion or water intrusion is found when removing the battery pack, Owners should stop using the remote and contact WARN customer service for a replacement remote free of charge. Once parts are available, WARN will make a replacement water resistant Remote available to affected customers, free of charge. The manufacturer has not yet provided a schedule for recall notification. Owners may contact WARN customer service at 1-800-543-9276.

I don't have experience off road on C's. I hate flats. Really dislike sidewall cuts because they ruin my pocketbook. Love the sidewall strength I have experienced in E's too. Whats been your experience with Niito's and the perils of the offroading I've seen you do? Reason I'm looking is they make a 35x11.5r17 rather than everyone else's 12.5...

Oh, I definitely think E's are good for off-roading. Just not needed for towing.

I don't have Nittos. The summer tires are Yokohama Geolandar MT's, and they're load range E. So far, they're holding up great.

The winter tires are Toyo Open County AT3, load range C. They have held up well for the off-roading I did with them, but I did get a gash in one sidewall. It holds air, but I moved it to spare duty.
