Wiring Sequential light accessories to OEM LED Limited Headlights

I added sequential side markers and fog light covers to the front of my Tacoma and I’m working on wiring to the OEM upgraded LED headlight kit and spent a ton of time trying to figure out which wire on the 6 pin harness is the turn signal.
Since there are basically zero diagrams online for this headlight wiring I took it to a Toyota dealership and the guys there just helped me narrow down which one was for the turn signal (see diagram attached). It’s port #3.

I’m about to hook up the turn signal wires to that and realized I forgot which wires on the headlights are for ground and positive. I’m planning on splicing, both, the fog light cover and side markers to each headlights Positive and Ground so I can avoid adding an additional fuse box/fuse harness (also avoiding having to add a resistor since they’re all 12v).

the Toyota guy printed out the wiring diagram but I’m having trouble figuring out the position on the positive and negative wire. This may be helpful to others searching for the same thing I was, so I wanted to ask this community for some help in determining it without having to grab a light tester.
Thoughts?

 

From top (edit) left:
Tan is turn (light blue on passengers)
White is high beam (yellow on passengers)
Red is low beam (blue on low beams)
Pink is parking lights (blue on passengers side, note the position since is the same color as the low beam)
Green is DRL
White/black stripe is ground

Also be aware that too much load will cause you turn signals to seize up (they will flash briefly once, then not again). It sounds like you are hooking up LEDs, so you should be good. But sometimes they build in resistors to turn signal lights, so just be aware

Kinda interesting that the position numbers don’t match (photo vs diagram) but shrug on that one.

 

Look into the darkness and they do...(contact side show, flip and they match to wire side)

Should’ve tried different browser cuz I typed in what I was looking into actual Google from my pc and it popped right up.

Couldn’t help myself; as soon as it stopped raining, I went and installed using t-connects. Sequential is looking sweeeet. Working like a charm…. Except, the DRL.




im new to working on vehicles and learning as I go… and I am not sure if I’m missing something simple or just being an idiot, but the DRLs won’t work even though I hooked both positive up to the DRL on the harness just like I did with the turn signal lights. I had the same thing with my tailgate lightbar even though I hooked up to the DRL wire of the drivers side taillight. What am I missing there?

 

Did you release the parking brake?

 

Also, does this added lamp have two isolated inputs? Because you can FU the circuits real easy feeding constant power to the turn circuit via the DRL circuit.

 

It was in park. Does it only turn on if not in park? (That’s what I mean by I could totally just be a moron lmao)

L/R of both fog light and marker lights connect and have a single positive lead coming from each (so two positive leads)

 

Low beam on means DRL is off.

 

You'll need a "special" harness from Dave in order to NOT FU you Taco. Or use his current one and forget the TURN input.
And, YES, the DRL will activate after you release the parking brake and have the Taco "ON".

 

tried turning taco on, closed door, had fiance check to see if they turned on and went through each light option with no luck (same for tailgate lightbar)

indicators work for them all but not DRLs.

is it a no-no to wire right into the DRL wires with accessories this way? Should I run them to a ACC+ fuse? Not sure how I’d do that with the tailgate light tho; the instructions on the tailgate lightbar said to tap into the taillight drl but these two new lights suggested ACC+ connection

 

Do you have a power probe? check that indeed you made contact to the copper strands inside the DRL wire you tapped.

 

Just bought one on Amazon; should be here tomorrow

in the meantime; here’s what the “install guide” from light manufacturer suggested for positive lead connection…

will live without the DRLs on them till tomorrow I guess; thanks for your help dude, really appreciate it
