Does anyone have any reputable resources on a place that will install a new windshield, and only do a calibration if it is needed instead of trying to upselling you a $400 re-calibration.

    I'm in the Golden area.

    Calibration? For a windshield?

I'm in Golden, too. Mountain Aire Auto Glass got me a well priced, OEM windshield and replaced it in my driveway.

Safelite replaced my 3rd gen windscreen through my insurance after a chip turned into a crack. They said they could do a recalibration for all the tech but it wouldn't be covered by insurance AND that it wasn't really needed. The break system still works so i guess it wasn't needed after all.

Edit: they came to me, I'm in Arvada. They were ok but it was "free" so not sure how much they charge. There was also a 3 week wait.

I was quoted 900 online with safelight. My insurance will not cover it. Plus I don't really trust them as a company.

It looks like you have a 2017, I dont think yours has the safety sense that started in 2018. But I can try them and see.

I've had too many bad experiences with Safelight. Will never use them again.

uhhh i used safelite for my windshield replacement. they said they would check the specs after for the radar and collision stuff. the report they showed me listed everything as functional. ive only have 1 false break alert since, that was like a month ago but the windshield was replaced over a year ago.

it was like 250 after my insurance

Let me start with safelite is a joke. O did a lot of windshields at one body shop o worked at because safelite sent a few Toyota owners away for minor surface rust that won’t affect the seal and they wanted twice as much.
Ok what calibration? Tacomas have a sensor in the grill and rear bumper but I don’t remember one in my windshield except rain sensor. I cheap AM windshield used to be $300 installed 6 months ago. Pilkington was like a little more but oem quality so depends what you want to spend. Try a small glass company. I am not a fan of corporate shops of any kind. I have had good luck with Valley Auto Glass and not a fan of a few other small companies but hate to blast them since they made do good work and I just had a couple bad exp

Thank you for this. I did try and use another company in Lakewood and at first they quoted me 419 for OEM glass then a day before the install they tried to switch it to Fuyao glass for that price which has a bad rap.

Then they quoted me 750 for Oem glass, So I backed out.

In case anyone else is on the Hunt - I ended up going through Glass America - $450 installed, and they didn't push any TSS calibration like the other companies. I just told him not to disconnect the camera and he was good with that. No calibration was needed. In fact, I'm lifted 3" plus 33"'s and I have never had any TSS issues so far.

One other company even tried to tell me that it was a state law that I had to have it done to the tune of $300 lol. Anyway, the guy was very professional, came to my work and 45min later it was all set.

There's a place on Alameda in Denver by the Costco Business Center. Cheap place that sells windshields got a Pilkington for my old 4th Gen 4Runner for around $180 a few years ago. Obviously that car didn't have TSS so no idea if they upsell to program that but my general vibe of this place is probably not.
