I just noticed that this light is not available in my truck and upon reading in the manual I noticed that it only appears as an option on Canadian models. Does anyone know if or how I could add this feature? Driving in the winter in Colorado is pretty bad at times and I'd like to know WHEN I am going to run out of washer fluid, not when I'm already out.

Could I just replace my reservoir with a Canadian bottle, is the wiring for this feature there, am I just missing the level sensor or is this a complete PITA to add?

Because Canadian washer fluid comes in bags, I do not believe a Canadian washer fluid reservoir will work in a US truck.

But the serious answer is that probably all you are missing is a level sensor.

Go to Toyota parts and compare the parts diagram for a US and a Canadian washer reservoir and see if they show different parts...that's the easy way.

Is it that hard to check the reservoir periodically and keep it filled?

If I am taking an unexpected 200 mile trip to ft Collins and run out of fluid halfway there it's a PITA yes...

It's just a small little yet nice "convenience" feature. If I did not have this on any of my other vehicles I probably would not have cared but I if it on my 1992 Dakota, 2002 Tundra, 2001 explorer, 2005 Ridgeline and on a 2010 RAV4 and now I guess I'm spoiled!

I did not have it on my 2010 Tacoma and thought Toyota would add it in the 2016 models.

If you're that worried about running out, throw a bottle or two behind your rear seats. I usually keep at least one in my truck during the winter months.

    Same.

    Pittsburghers are smart. Hi5

Also be sure to keep a folding chair in your truck to save your spot while you are out.

That's what I usually do and most often than not I check the fluid level every time I wash the truck but I have been in a very crowded I25 and ran out of washer fluid before and it's just kinda scary running out at 75 mph and not being able to see anything.

    I was just curious tho.

Does it rain paint in CO? How do you use so much fluid during a trip?

The snow/gravel/mag chloride mix keeps the windshield kinda glazed over, especially when it's bitter cold out. Most times you can just run the wipers and it stays clean for the most part but not always.

Also the spray other cars kick up is super dirty and makes visibility piss poor....

But from some of the comments here, making fun of me, I seem to have a pretty small problem. Lol. It's just a convenience question and would have liked to see that in a $40k truck, but oh well!

If you're referring to the washer fluid reservoir it is not a bag it is a plastic container in the Canadian models, Limited anyways...
