On vacation and had a golfball sized rock smash into the very center of my DCLBs windscreen.

    Any advice on replacement?

OEM glass only? Any specific place to get it replaced?

Never actually had to fully replace a windshield, so this is new territory for me.
    Any help appreciated.

    TIA

Probably read the fine print in your insurance policy if they will cover the bulk or all of it without future penalty. There have been posts about Safelite being a nightmare, but they kind of have the monopoly on windshields depending on location. I'm in need of a windshield myself, but trying to get a bulk of the summer road tripping done first. I think out of pocket was $700 plus for mine quoted at Safelite. They will ding you for some recalibration too. Good luck

Call your insurance company, all policies are different. It may pay for most if not all of the cost. Should get at least part of it.

Nothing wrong with aftermarket. I had to replace the one on my F150 a couple of years ago. My insurance pays 100% if it can be repaired. In fact, they had already fixed 2 chips. The 2nd time I had 2-3 tiny chips, but they said they could only do so many. My whole windshield had to be replaced.

It would have cost me $500 for a factory glass with an F150 logo on it. $350 for an aftermarket with no logo. Wasn't worth $150 to have the logo. The one I have is just as good.

My truck has OE glass made by pilkington. Pilkington also happens to be one of the major aftermarket glass makers.
If you have the camera near the rear view mirror it should be recalibrated too.

    Thanks for the replies!

We are back at home now, so will be checking in with State Farm on Friday morning. Im 99% sure this is covered under my $500 deductible policy, but will clarify things then.

    4 run, 2 don't
    Oof...hope not

$500 is common for a collision deductible, but not a comprehensive or even a windshield (if listed separately) deductible

If your comprehensive is $500, lower it to $0 cause that's way too high

If not covered under warranty, most glass shops have them. Call around and you may even score a 4th of July deal. Had mine replaced for a couple hundred dollars.

I just went through this. Caught a rock on a road trip in Colorado and it cracked all they way across. I paid out of packet and used a local place. $600 with aftermarket Pilkington glass and sensor recalibration, whatever that is. OEM glass would have been an additional $500. No thanks. Tried to use Safelight, but they would not touch my truck due to non stock sized tires.

Already had a quote for replacement and recalibration while we were high up in the mountains. Got two quotes, both around $750 or so.

I'll have to call shops around town after I call State Farm.
