I have a question for you all,I received my payment for my windshield of only 1300 and I realized that its not enough because toyota is also charges for recalibration, so my question is do I need my windshield calibrated? I read somewhere maybe here or on youtube thats its not needed?
also I posted a picture of the cracked windshield , dont get mad at me it was taken right now and you cant see the crack , but trust me its almost all the way cracked

Yes, the forward facing camera (that mounts to the windshield) should be calibrated if the windshield was removed and/or replaced.

I had mine replaced and calibrated for less than 1300 at an auto glass shop.

Tell them to absolutely do not unplug the camera and it will not need re-calibration.
Had to do this with mine because no one will re-calibrate a lifted truck and it worked perfectly.

Its under the black box looking thing behind the rear view mirror. It's used for the lane departure functions and a couple other functions with the automated safty systems.

I got my windshield done at a local place through insurance but they didn’t do calibration at the location near me. Had to go to Toyota and get the calibration done for $300, which my insurance also covered. Drove for a couple weeks before calibration with no issues at all, and the installer said they rarely have a problem. Probably doesn’t really need to be done, but figured if I got in an accident and the other insurance company found out I hadn’t done the calibration, they’d try to use that against me in some way.
