Hello! Looking for a little advice regarding my 2018 Limited windshield. I was behind a truck pulling a trailer on the highway that kicked up a rock and it hit my windshield. I attached a picture showing the damage. It is slightly smaller than a quarter.

American Eagle Auto Glass here in Terre Haute, IN was recommended to me by my dealership. I called them and asked for pricing. They can repair it for around 70 dollars. The repair is guaranteed for the life of me owning the vehicle. I was given the warning that the repair could be noticeable if it is in my line of sight and also is possible that the window could crack during repair. The guarantee states that if I'm not happy with the repair or it cracks later, the price of the repair will be put towards a window replacement.

My insurance comp. coverage will replace the window. I have a $250 deductible, and I'm pretty sure it will be more than that. However they weren't able to give me a price, because they have to order the window from Toyota and don't know the price of that without contacting Toyota. Again, I'm sure it's well over my deductible, so I would probably claim it (unless it's just a little over the 250; doubtful). They said they recommended Toyota glass because of the Lane Departure sensors on the truck.

Has anyone had experience with having a spot like what I have repaired, or should I just have the whole window replaced? Is the quality of a repair up to most peoples standards, or does it look bad? Mine is just below where my line of sight is on the road. You can see it in the picture. Looking for some feedback on this.Window1.jpg

that's a fat chip but I've repaired worse, ide say get it fixed, if they know what they are doing it will barely be noticeable after the fact.

I recently had a rock chip repaired by safelite in the wifes car and you can definitely still see it. For all intents tho it is repaired. It's on the passenger side on her car so it's not as big a deal.. that would drive me nuts to look at. Do you not have glass coverage? Mine was free.

I'd let em fix it and see what you think since you can apply the cost towards replacement

When I had to replace my cracked windshield the total cost to my insurance co was over 1K because of the TSS and recalibration of it. My deductible was $500:(

    Damn... 500?

Do you not have a glass plan on your insurance? My maximum deductible is 100

Having my 2017 windshield replaced AS WE SPEAK. I have Progressive and my deductible is $250. They came to the house and it's almost done. However mine wasn't a chip, it cracked from one side clear to the other. :(

Well, that’s your answer... chip repair, and if you don’t like it full window replacement.

If it's repairable just repair it.

These windshields suck. I've had two replaced already

I do not have a glass coverage. If I claim, I have to go through comp. Having it repaired first makes sense. I wanted to see what people thought about their repairs and see if it was worth the hassle. Thanks guys. If anyone else has thoughts, please share.

Mine is of similar size but is a lot lower down closer to the dash. It is filled in but it’s so far out of sight I just left it as is. This happened during my road trip during Christmas to the frozen north with temperatures below 0. It only cracked about an inch since then. I will replace if it does start spidering across. Me personally I would replace it with it being in the line of sight.

    4 run, 2 don't
Had something similar myself on my fiancés 5.0 and had her windshield replaced; $0 comprehensive deductible is pretty cheap to have so I'd say, drop it whenever you can so you don't have to pay anything at all next time.

I've had Safelite repair a very similar occurrence on my F-150 years ago, could barely even notice anything was there, just looked like a small manufacturing defect. It was great and saved $$$

I prefer the repair to replacement. On my 4R, the glass shop cut into the sheet metal with a razor knife. I was made aware 2 months later when the same glass cracked from road debris. The next glass tech pointed out the damage / rust. Said it would leak... Gave me pictures. Insurance company paid a body shop to repair the rusted areas at a cost of 2000 which they charged back to the glass shop.

Was actually looking into that...It is about 50 dollars a year extra to drop to $0 comprehensive deductible.

I am trying to get them to come out tomorrow or Wednesday. I don't want it to grow either then be forced to replace it. I think I'm going to go ahead and have it repaired.

Get it fixed immediately as temp swings will make that bigger. And running the heat on the window will def make it bigger. Made that mistake once before. Spend the $75 now.

Had one repaired by safelite... Passenger side but repair was quite ugly. I have had plenty done leaving minimal mark but not this time. I have two little nicks also... These windshields are pretty weak it seems.
