    PXL_20230530_231129645.jpg Hi everyone,

After replacing my driver side door check last year on my 2016 Taco, I am having issues with the window. I suspected there might have been some damage to the window track that is bolted on just above the speaker and not far from the check. I took it off and it seems ok (not bent). The problem is now I cant seem to get the window back on after I reinstalled the track. So I have a non functioning window at the moment.

Do I need to take the window out first then screw the track back on and then put the window back?

I'm really trying to avoid the dealership on this one. Since I have everything apart I am wondering if its just a matter of getting the window out.

I just uploaded some pics of the track rod that I took off to inspect. Anyone have insight on the condition? I think that slight curve is normal to accommodate the shape of the window?

    Any help is much appreciated!

Had the same problem with a Sienna we owned years ago. I went to a local windshield repair joint with the door all disassembled .A tech fixed it within 20 minutes, all put the panel and switches back together.

Very interesting... I replaced my door check not long ago and have the same issue. Driver's side window will go down about 2 inches and stop. Haven't had time to pull the door back apart and see what is wrong yet. Weird that we both have the same issue though.

Sounds like you may have bent the track. Did you replace your door check after the wind took the door? When that happens the dor check often push into and bends the window track. In my case it isn't bent. I just can't seem to get the pieces all lined up.

Ya I thought about that, when I called a few places they didn't seem to eager to help.

As far as I'm aware the wind never really caught my door, it just sort of seemed to wear out.

I would guess that while replacing the door check, something got moved out of place or bent then. I unscrewed mine to inspect it to make sure the door check did not damage the track (which often happens when the wind takes the door and pushes that check and bends it).
Now I can't seem to get things lined up.

Yeah, I figured maybe when I was putting it back together I maybe tightened something a bit too much or something. I'll have to have a look when I have the time to take it back apart.
