So I have a 2021 4WD with a DV8 bumper and a Smittybuilt winch. The winch mounts down behind the front grill and plugging in the winch remote control really sucks. I would really like to "re-locate" the plug. Does anyone know if there is a way to extend the plug with either an extension cord type thing or something?

    Make your own?

What plug do you have? I know somebody has the male and female part.

There are only 4 wires that control the solinoids

I second the make your own idea. Hardest part will probably be sourcing the correct plugs. Post pics of the male and female connectors and maybe somebody can tell you what they are. Maybe Smittybuilt sells extensions?

Why not move the plug? Add longer wiring?

Can you relocate the controller to under the hood? It stays dry and easy access. Make your own cables.

If you are comfortable with cutting and soldering wires, you could plug in your winch controller, route it to wherever you want the connection to be, then just cut it there and put an XLR audio connector or something on the end to make it quick disconnect. I recently replaced my corroded Warn connector with an XLR connection, and it looks like that's basically what @maxus just posted in his link above. Having just soldered an XLR and seeing the price of $33 for that extender above, I honestly think you should just buy the extender and be done with it, rather than dicker around with the BS of soldering an XLR. Assuming that one above works for your winch.

If you want to do an in-cab switch, this video might be helpful for finding the correct wires / pins to splice into. It's for a Warn winch but you can use a multimeter to figure out the correct wires for your winch.

Here's my ghetto XLR repair to my winch connector that was corroded:

Ok so had a friend @MT AYON help me by getting the wire from an extra smittybilt XRC Gen 3 controller and mating those wires to a connector. The connector went to a socket that smitttybilt provided (you have to call them to send it). Ran that wire through DS firewall and now the socket is under my driver seat.
