Will a full screen head unit from a 2015 Tacoma fit my 2012 that doesn't have the full screen with just radio/cd player? Is it just plug and play or do i have to modify and/or add wiring ect?

The radio should fit just fine. Now as for being plug and play. If your 2012 had XM on it, I believe the plug for the 15 is different and you would also need to get a GPS antenna for the Nav to work.

So will it still work and be plug and play without the XM and gps working? I don't care if those 2 things don't work

I did this upgrade to an 07 and a 13 that I had and they were both plug and play. Only thing different was the 07 had to get a different radio surround with heater vents. Needed a 12-15 model. But you say you have a 12 so yes it should be just fine.

Just to be sure, your radio surround bezel does look like this IMG_9979.jpg

I’m seeing conflicting things online but if it looks like this one, it will still work just fine but the top of radio will stick out from bezel just a tad. Some people took a drimmel to the surround bezel to make it look factory. But it’s only if you surround looks like this oneIMG_9980.jpg

But... but you said you did this with the same truck I have and assured me it would fit no problem without any modifications, your breaking my heart my heart now!

I did this in 2016 so it’s been a little while ago. I can’t remember if this surround is a 12-15 year range or 13-15. But it need to look like this oneIMG_9979.jpg

Here is a pic of the gap I mentioned earlier. This is a 2013 radio going into a 2007. IMG_9987.jpg

So if your surround bezel has these plastic pieces that can pop out that under the vent, you will have that small gap. But if it’s smooth and plastic is curved under vent with no pop out pieces it will work fine with no gap. Just can be 100% sure on years. TW sites show 12-15 surround years the same and flebay shows 13-15IMG_9988.jpg

I did a 2012 non-premium HU in my 06. Got the radio & surround for free from a local TW member. Everything was plug & play, but sadly no microphone for hands free calls, it plays the callers audio through the speakers but… still looking for a solution for this…

at least I don’t have to use my CD wallet anymore or a crappy FM transmitter. Like one of the other posts, I do have a small gap in the top corners where it doesn’t sit flush, but not “unclipped” or exposed

So it fits but.... The handsfree, radio and blue tooth don't work, there were 2 plugs from my harness that wouldn't plug in the back also. This sucked, wasted an hour picking the unit up on top of the purchase price. But for someone that just wants to play cd's it's good for them I guess

Thank you VERY much!! I just needed the antenna adapter and a wire harness, according to the thread and other folks installs, everything should work besides the XM radio which I don't care for anyways, but if some peoples want that to work, you'll need another harness, also you'll need a harness for the Nav but I use my phone so don't care for that either

I didn’t bother with the antenna size adapter on mine, I just run an fm radio app on my phone that gives better quality than an antenna would anyway.
