Do you think the 01-04 model of tacomas will ever be sought after for "classic styling?" Or are they to curvy to ever be classic models?

Totally already are... Anything non 2nd gen is a "classic" since they are kinda how we all remember Toyotas. Small, simple and not built in Mexico :)

Ah the TW I remember..where people love to argue. No sweat man! My brother has a 2005 2nd Gen built at NUMMI in Fremont, CA... They made the transition during the 2nd gen phase if I wasn't mistaken.

I know someone who did work for NUMMI. They built all Tacomas in Fremont, CA up until around 2009 - after which they switched production to TMMTX in San Antonio and also Tijuana. Reason was NUMMI went defunct in 2010.

After the crap I saw on tv about throttle by wire being remote controlled on many vehicles by devious people, Ill stick to pre 01 Tacoma's. 01-04 has my fave front end though!

I have a hard time seeing them becoming classics similar to the recent surge in popularity of the 60 series Landcruisers. But, I don't see their value dropping anymore than they are right now.

01-02 Tacoma's have cable driven throttle bodies. Also 03-04 Tacomas also have no method of connecting to any sort of network so there's literally no possible way anyone could remotely "hack" them....

No doubt, but the lag from not being cable driven is bad news, slow reaction time!, I don't support parts or models too much that are ecu controlled too much. Cable driven is immediate response w/o the headache, If Ca had its choice they would tar and feather all of us gas driven good old school car/truck modders we are the bane of green society. The OP is correct! cable driven stopped after 02. I would trade my lights grill and hood to anyone with impeccable parts like mine if any 01-04 wants the 2000 front end though.

Only time will tell. People are paying some insane prices for gen 1's though.

I agree a clean first gen double under 200,000 miles still gets up to $15,000 out here

Asking insane prices isn't the same as getting paid insane prices.

Besides that 2026 will be the first year they will be considered a 'classic' in any official sense (in most places). 2025,it's just an old truck. 2026, a classic. And 2051 an antique.

Classic in what sense? In a lot of states a car can be registered as a classic after x amount of years, or are you referring to "classic" in the sense of being sought out by collectors?

Oh shoot! How could I forget? Those are the best looking grill/headlight assemblies they made. 98-2000 is ok then I'm not sure what they were thinking after that. lol Gonna get banned for that possibly ;)

Just the other day when I was at the dealership a salesman saw my truck and told me he loved those "Classic" Tacomas. I was taken back because I don't think of it as a classic.
