I can't seem to find a straight answer to this. I've seen some posts where people have said USB3.0 works just fine, and others say only 2.0 work. I tried an older 3.0 device I had, and my truck didn't recognize it, but my 2.0 drive had no issue.

Was the failed drive formatted to FAT32?

Yup. I reformatted it and all, I think it might just be old.

Possibly. Only so many read/writes on flash memory.

I just put this one in mine and worked fine, wanted a compact so it didn't stick out by the cup holders.
Formatted before I loaded the music to remove any factory installed trash.
I had a 64GB in my old truck but the Toyota would not recognize that one, I think there is a size limit.
