I have 265/70/17 and they clear perfect. Really want to sale and move up to 33s. I know that's 1.5 taller than what I have now and 1inch wider

they are skinny and someone is bound to give you crap about pizza cutters but at the same time, they are 33's and they're lighter then 285s and no trimming required. all of my rub would be resolved with a small wheel spacer, i like em personally

So would the wheel spacers fix the problem with it scrubing the mud flaps? Or would I 2inch lift fix it

I've got 285/75r16 nankang mudstars. No lift and barely rubs the uca at full lock in reverse. Stock wheels and no spacers.

Op didnt say he wheel'd either and i assume not since hes concerned about mud flaps. Also not sure how to take the first part of ur post but 255/85 16 are 33s actually slightly taller than 285s. Sorry if u knew that already just wasnt clearly understood on my end

I do wheel but wanted to keep the flaps to keep rocks from chipping the paint. I'd rather have a wider tire than a tall skinny one. Don't really want to put a lift one it because I don't want the change how it rides.

I've installed a Ready Lift spacer kit on a buddies 2012 Tacoma. It's a top mount spacer (NOT a spring spacer) There is no added preload to the springs. They are still the very same rate as before. The kit came with 1" rear blocks. It raised the truck 2-3/4" in the front and 1" in the rear. 1" is apparently not enough to cause noticeable spring wrap. The ride is IDENTICAL to what it was prior to the lift kit install. The front end alignment was apparently off a tic prior to installing the "leveling kit". Afterwards, the truck drives MUCH BETTER than it did prior.

No...Spacers aren't the "ultimate" in lift kits, but they aren't nearly as evil as some would like you to believe.

But.....33"'s on a stock suspension WILL rub. (As much to do with added width as with added height) That much you can be sure of.

I have Billies with an actual lift of about 2.5 and run 255/85/16. They do rub the UCA a little bit, but not enough to be of much concern. I have aftermarket mudflaps, but those see a little rubbing when flexed and turning - the worst rubbing is at a little less than full turn. Wheel spacers have the same effect as wider wheels and/or tires. Your tires will sweep further on turns, creating even more rub. 33s on spacers might even be enough to crunch your fenders (not sure). Skinny 33s on stock wheels stay in the wheel well.

I personally wouldn't put them on stock suspension, because it's essentially the same as driving around mostly flexed. You'll probably rub around turns and lose your mudflaps pretty quickly if you keep them on. If you're willing to do a little :sawzall:, then I say go for it - you can eliminate anything that rubs with a little cutting. Hell, you should be able to fit 35s on stock suspension with some cutting...

What all would need to be trimmed to run 33s? The flaps and the plastic fender insert? 255/85 is how wide??
